Also a small suggestion is maybe having specific sections for different camera shooters. Such as Sony shooters, canon, Nikon and so on so you don’t have to filter through questions or threads but just be able to follow your camera. Just a because if everyone is posting in one spot a good thread could get pushed back pretty fast.

A bit like what scubaboard is doing in their photography forum?

I'm neutral on this, but I was maybe if brand tags are added to threads (which they might not be, human variables...), this could be done by the user with a tweak of the stream options?

Allow me to add a few thoughts on the forum structure.

When defining the structure of the forum we also considered this hypothesis and then discarded it, at least at the start.

The first reason is that for a forum starting from scratch it is better to have a simpler structure and knowing where the majority of users would come from (at least the first few days) we wanted to make them feel comfortable.

A complex and detailed structure like SB only works if you have a large number of users, which a new platform does not. A user with a Panasonic or Fuji camera body would almost certainly find himself alone with his questions, whereas we would like the forum to be as inclusive as possible and for users to be enriched with information even if not directly relevant to their equipment and mode of use. Less specific sections encourage the exchange of news and the discovery of information. (Serendipity).

Not least the fact that the topics often go slightly OT and so a thread on a specific Canon kit, with the addition of dozens of comments often ends up giving info that is also very useful for other brands and situations.

As @bghazzal pointed out, the board we use has quite sophisticated search functions that can be enhanced through the use of specific tags/labels. In this regard, it will also be the task of us moderators to carry out periodic topic gardening campaigns, adding them where necessary. By the way, in the coming months we will be moving on to a new version of the board that will add more functionality in terms of search and user experience.

However, nothing is written in stone and we will try to adapt the forum to the needs of the users.

Stay tuned!

First off thanks for all you’re doing and I’m so looking forward to being a positive active member. So are the shirts and mug ready to go? I’m in the US. Also I saw you had a photo with a decal. Do you have those? I love decals and I’d like to get a few extra for a few trips I’m going on and finding a place at the resort to get the site some exposure.

Now this is an idea - who does not like stickers ...of course with a Tim's hand made version on special order too 😅

Might be a bit too "detailed" - Scubaboard is indeed much bigger (thought somehow less focused in the photography department), here its a bit more small and cosy, hence it might end up being too "divided".

Tags - this is it! Search is sometimes problematic, where a given keyword is missing however forcing folks to tag a topic would be awesome i.e. "How do i shot this thing" is not particularly descriptive and won't hit any camera brand keywords if looking into the title...however this tagged as "Panasonic" for example makes it instantly easier.
