Monitor Showing Live View is Too Dark
scubadiggy replied to brightnight's topic in Photography Gear and Technique
To answer the second part of your question. It usually is the HDMI cable which gets finicky and can tend to have breaks within. I have changed two already! There can definitely be cables made, I AM SURE, that can last much longer but then thats not great for business i guess ? 🙂 I finally have a cable that works and i have secured it at the ends with silicone tape, but know that its a matter of time. I now hardly use the monitor and use the camera screen instead for videos and have currently stayed away from Macro videos. -

Strobes nowadays have all the relevant specs and modes BUT have become quite heavy. Close to 2..4 kgs with batteries. Anyways look forward to the launch and would love to try these. Diggy -

The Phantom and the Opera house (Romblon)
scubadiggy replied to Ajay's topic in Trip Reports & Travel
I love the place and there are some amazing critters to find and see. Hope you saw the sashimi shrimps (rice grain size) on a night dive. The black water is also phenomenal. A dedicated macro lens and Romlon create a beautiful symphony. 🙂 Lovely images. Diggy -

Used https://www.squarespace.com and found it pretty user friendly with options to upscale into a business model. Diggy https://www.scubadiggy.com -
If you do end up flying to Manila then I suggest Puerto Galera for reefs as well as macro and if you really are into super macro as also macro with some amazingly weird critters then and overnight Ferry to Romblon would be super. I stayed with https://the-three-p.com they are very professional and good. You also get to do some amazing black water dives if that's your thing. Same applies to Anilao, but I find Romblon very unique. Hope this helps Diggy

Problem with my Nauticam viewfinder
scubadiggy replied to Architeuthis's topic in Photography Gear and Technique
Maybe if its not oil then you could use a hair dryer to evaporate the water droplets, but that may probably leave a stain inside. -

Retra Strobes Pros & Cons
scubadiggy replied to Jerry Diver's topic in Lights, Strobes, and Lighting Technique
There was a time when some fantastic images were made and probably still are being made, be it wide angle or macro with older model strobes be it Inon's or sea and sea or Ikelite's. I do agree that there are some new strobes out there that surpass the older ones in power, light distribution and colour rendition as also battery life. I have been using one brand lately that can give me up to 4 dives without a battery change, but i would rather still stick with my older Inons. I am not trying to change the tone or content of this thread, but do believe that in the correct hands, most would do the job except in conditions with pelagics where power and fast recharge would be most helpful. Sorry just my two bits. And yes had i the budget would jump at buying the retras. Diggy -

Working the subject: focusing on the artistic aspect of underwater photography
scubadiggy commented on vkalia's article in Technique
Well That's a great article by Vinnie and Vinnie has been quite humble in describing the kind of photographer he is. But having know him long enough, I would definitely add that Vinnie (Vandit) is a VERY VERY good photographer (underwater too). He does pen articles a little better though 🙂 🙂 Liked the read Vinnie. hey mike dive Pemuteran extensively many years ago. Never did manage to shoot these elusive beauties. But while looking for them found some pyjama cardinal fish. In my honest opinion one of the best places to shoot these would be Ambon. Success nearly every evening. Diggy

To be quite honest, I have two of the SUPE strobes one of which gave me some problems. Mind you I had purchased directly from SUPE not a retailer/Distributor. It was replaced immediately and shipping was also borne by them. A few months later had an issue once more. Replaced again at their cost. I had to pay some duty though this time. Since then both work just fine. I would imagine that if one deals directly with them things would be better handled ? Only fair that I post this here I believe? Diggy
