  1. A little bit more than 800$ for a pair (50$ saving for each if you order before 8th of July). This is not cheap, but if you compare with the price of empty 4 to 8 AA booster... It's double the battery life, so you can probably dive 1 day with only 2 packs instead of 32 AA... But recycle time is only 10% better. Expect more for a Li-Ion strobe.... And I love (or not...) the sentence "NOTE: The USB-C charging cable is not included with the Retra Power Vault."
  2. Hi JB did you set your Z330 to ignore the preflash ? small button on right. Push or pull, I do not remember...
  3. I wonder if FLEX/TPU is less prone to have water going inside...
  4. Seen issue with the salt deposit on the glass. I was clearly able to see the mesh pattern of the neoprene cover on the glass. This disappear with cerium oxyde cleaning (my glass had no coating, so it is not a problem) Now, I use the neoprene cover during the dive for protection, and have a hard cover used afterward.
  5. I use same kind of 4mm cable with EM1 mk2 and FL-LM3 triggering Retra Pro-X It works alse very well.
  6. With EM1-mk2 I use Oly 8mm also behind Zen DP170 dome and IQ is very good. I also have the Pana 7-14 behind the same dome with an extension, and previously behind a Nauticam 6" dome, but in both cases quality is not as good than 8mm with Zen dome, and the 7-14 ens is prone to flare. No longer used it since several years...
  7. Well known picture of seahorse with ear bud from Justin Hofman seems to be legit....
  8. Be aware that neoprene cover can leave some traces on the port if not completely dry. I have made a 3d printed flex cover for my dome port. The glass is not touching the cover. But it is a little bit to bulky to keep it with me while diving...
  9. I have done some tests in the pool. Tested, Subsee +5, Saga +10, SMC1, Noodilab. Compared to X2 S-macro mode, I could get for some of them nearly same magnification, but in all cases with the cost of a reduce working distance. No benefit at all. A sample of result with the 90mm lens alone in X2 S-macro mode. Working distance is around 4-5 cm. This is the head of a Lego minifig. Width is around 10mm, filling the frame with no crop. Not so bad... null
  10. I had 4 YSD1, and 3 are dead due to tube failure...
  11. Hi Bill. I tested with a Saga +10 and a Noodilab Moby, but with no benefits. Basically no better magnification, but very short working distance. I still have to test with my wife's Subsee+5 As previously written I already have to master the lens w/o additions...
  12. I have done tests with 10 meters fiber without any noticeable change.
  13. Thanks Chris. not sure I will be able to do some tests, needing to find a 17mm extention ring... Anyway I have first to try to get some good results without TC. From my first tests (in pool), it seems a 1cm subject will fill the whole image in S-macro mode... Trip to Alor, Indonesia planned for June and weanwhile in fresh water at La Gravière du Fort, Alsace France. Will post images (If I can get good ones 🙂 )
  14. A friend of mine is using a Nikon D7200 with Nikon SB800 strobes in homemade housings. Some infos here (this is in french, but there are some pictures 🙂 ) https://www.forum-photosub.fr/forum/viewtopic.php?p=224459
  15. Hi, I have an Olympus EM1 mkII with an Olympus 90mm macro lens. In a Nauticam housing with N85 Macro Port 120 dedicated part. Does anyone try this with the 1,4x teleconverter and N85 Extention Ring 17 (as specified in port chart) ? in which mode in the lens ? Normal, 2x (S-macro) ? Any input will be welcome 🙂
