  1. I Grant, By coincidence, I decided to bring my same-problem D1 yesterday to a small Sea&Sea distributor here in Asia. I was quite lucky, finding a very experienced old man behind the desk. He did several tests for free but unfortunately could not fix it and added that is the main board, so not possible fixing. He gave me this restart sequence sheet attached for the D2 and told that sometimes he manages to fix some D1 units with it. You might try it. In addition, he also told and showed me why many D1 and D2 strobes flood, and it is due to the fiber cable socket, which after a while gets micro cracks and let the water come in. He advised to change it for a new sturdier one usually mounted on the D3 (attached pic too) strobe model, and I did the replacement for just $20 bucks. Totally worthy to avoid future floods if you have any more D1 or D2 strobe units. So far, I will keep using my "damaged D1" at medium power which works perfectly until it breaks down completely, and find another brand for new strobes. Sea&Sea has given me too many problems since 10 years ago. Regards. null null
  2. Hi there. Could you please tell me if on the top of the strobe is written "MADE IN CHINA", and the color of the inner label? Black or yellow? A pic can also help. Maybe is the one I am looking for... Thanks.
  3. I really like the color and light on this pic buddy. Nice one!
  4. I recently travelled to Cancun and they took some of my airtight sealed food and some small tools for my underwater rig. I explained to them that it was illegal because I checked the Mexican custom law before flying in. They were 2 sneaky girls laughing each other behind the counter, so they clearly played me. When I demanded to talk to the supervisor they ignored me and started talking to the next person in queue. I also saw many attempts of scams in the streets and small supermarkets, so I won't go to Mexico anymore.
  5. Hello! I hope you enjoy the forum! 😉
  6. In Singapore you can leave a unattended laptop or a bag on a table of a cafe or restaurant, and nobodies is going to touch it. It's one of he safest countries in the world. So, a locker at the airport is massively safe.
  7. What a colorful article buddy! Thanks for sharing 😊
  8. Thanks for the info. I have been in Bali several times and it was always great. Nice pics by the way!
  9. I can confirm, as the buddy above, that El Hierro island in The Canary islands has the best diving in Spain, and probably in the entire Europe in terms of biodiversity and big marine life. It's a bit pricey but totally deserve a try. Another spot, this time in the mainland is the marine reserve of Cabo de Palos, in the province of Murcia. Plenty of marine life with its famous giant groupers. Good luck with your trip!
  10. Hi buddies, I have been using different wet macro lenses with a Sony Rx100 VA along the years, such as Fit pro +5, Saga+10, Subsee +10, and Fit pro +13 without problems and getting quality from all of them. I never had all of them at the same time to stack up and get any close to +20 so I couldn't try myself. The thing is I have just found a pretty bargain for the Saga +20 and I wonder if the focus is too challenging due to its massive magnification before making my mind to buy it... Or if there are any other things to consider with such a big macro lens... Any advices of any +20 wet macro lenses user here are welcome. Thanks in advance!! 😉😎
  11. Hi PeterN, nice and vivid colors from your video. I have recently been in Roatan and despite there are tons of bleaching/dead corals it's still a pretty enjoyable place for diving. The north area of the island is better no doubt. About fixing your Inon lens you could use some mild polishing products, but check first what is the front glass made of to be sure you use the proper product without damaging or removing the manufacturer coating. A glass quality 67mm filter in front can also protect it from future scratches. About
  12. Hi, I have used Changi airport dozens of times and I can say that it works better than a Swiss watch, so no worries if you first flight lands on time. As you said, fill up the arrival card online and you can directly go to pass immigration which is all automated and fast. The train between terminals is really quick passing every few minutes. You can also tell any flight attendant from your first flight about your rushed transfer and they might let you go first once you land. Good luck!
  13. A few days ago it took me ages to get open any post from the android app. As slow as the focus of the Canon G1🤣. My smartphone was sharp so it was not the problem.
  14. Hi, I worked on Malta years ago and the high season is from April to October. $1000 to 1300/monthly wage, no much marine life but many great wrecks. The hardest thing was to find a house to stay because of the pretty high turistic demand, and they are usually almost as expensive as your own salary, so a single room in a shared flat could be the best option. The 90% of the dives are from the shore and you need to reach them driving, so a driving license is a must.
  15. It's advised from the most of underwater rig's manufacturers to change the oring once per year. So, you could buy some spares to avoid future issues. Also, locking up the housing slower and checking out the behavior of the o-ring can help. Sometimes, I have accidentally trapped my o-ring while closing up the housing and learnt from that.
  16. Hi, it depends on your aims as photographer. For a professional use or a pretty demanding photographer, glass is always going to deliver better quality image, resolve flaring better, and it's more difficult to scratch it. However, it's heavier to transport and more expensive. For just split shots, the bigger is the dome, the easier to take them, so if there is not a budget buy the biggest you can made by glass, and you will have some for decades. This way you will buy only once. Regards.
  17. I have recently been in Roatan, Honduras, taking hundreds of photos of the reef and the current condition of many dive sites. It was depressing. Talking to the local dive masters, guides and instructors working here for years, some for decades, they said the reef is 70% dead compared to 6 or 7 years ago. I could find some isolated alive corals but not healthy at all, and the most of them are showing up massive bleaching. The water temperature was 29°C in April 2024, and increasing in summer. The problem is bigger than we think and it's worldwide.
  18. When I started UW photography with just one strobe time ago, I spent many hours in my room shooting different repetitive scenarios and moving the single strobe to understand how the shadows are created. Also, modifying the amount of natural light from my window at the same time helped me out to get more information about lighting subjects. You don't have much time underwater to test all these things because of the limited free diving time, so better try it out out of the water. I would suggest you to put the strobe on the top but move it slightly to the opposite side of the subject to get a less plain pic and more shadows in the background.
  19. Well, we can't avoid technology and it seems the AI is going to be a huge part of the current photography industry. Although, in my humble opinion I would like to see some regulations on it to not destroy the legit real photographer's work. They both can live together but everyone in its own house 🤣.
  20. Sorry for your bad experience with that seller. It seems that the costumer service for many companies has downgrade massively in the last few years everywhere, and they only care about the monthly numbers and not the future potential clients. It's ironic because both are directly connected but companies does not seem to see it. I hope you get your delivery safely.
  21. Hi, I usually search for similar gear in the second hand online platforms for my country, and the most known webs internationally such as eBay and others. Then I compare them regarding the real condition of my items to set up a fair price. You can also be conservative with the first price, and test the market. If after a while nobody text you is a clear sing that you overpriced the gear. Good luck with your selling!
  22. Hello everyone, I'm happy for being part of this great community, and I hope this forum brings the best of everyone in terms of sharing our passion. I am actually shooting with a Sony Rx100 VA, but I have 4 more cameras plus housings... I love collecting gadgets and testing old and new tech for UW photography. See you in the blue! 🌊🫧
