It certainly looks big enough, I like that it will fit either the FX7 or V1
Steve B)
Was'nt the housing supposed to use the port from the phenom ?
Dean,
I thought around that figure too. If the pro EVO is at 1795.00 + VAT, i expect it to be at least 2300.00 + VAT. I'm off to sell my kidneys, and get the missus to 'work the street'.

Hi all
Got some info from Amphibico
~~~~~~~~~~~
"The New Endeavor will use the same lens system as our Phenom FXZ1 housing..
It will have one filip filter, and you will be able to screw in a diopter
ring for macro,,
The cost of the housing will retail from about $4600 - $5000US
The 94 degree lens will be optional..
The picture you see is a Proto-type rending and not exactly as shown,, the
manual focus will be electronic on the left grip...
The 4 buttons are menu controls and also will have access to assign keys..
No button for shot transition.
Due out April 2007
~~~~~~~~~~~~
There's a big wheel on the left side, anybody got any idea what's that for? Wags?
I also notice the picture doesn't show the vary zoom & focus wheel on the grips. So maybe the big wheel is for zoom?
Assign keys. What are the functions you can assign to that button? Manual WB?
Sorry for getting too excited about the housing. Maybe we should just wait for April and stop speculating.

the big wheel on my BluefinHD/FX1 housing is for iris control -- maybe the same thing here?
Hi All
You cannot add WB to the assign keys, you can add the following:-
Marker
Digital Extender
Focus infinity
Rec Review
End Search
Index Mark
Peaking
Steadyshot
Colour Bar
Spotlight
Backlight
Fader
Display
Picture Profile
Shot Transition
There are six assign buttons. 4-6 already have functions in VCR mode and cannot have iother functions assigned in this mode.
The white balance control is in the lower left on the back of the cam, so a simple manual control button should easily be able to access it leaving the assignable buttons to other features. Lets hope the manufacturers attend to WB in their designs.
Steve B)
The Endeavor is going to have a Electronic White Balance, but unlike the one on the Phenom which zapped the WB through the service mode of the camcorder, this will be using the electronic protocol exactly like the PD150/170. The electronic white balance will do exactly as the manual one-push on the camcorder does.
That big knob would be for Manual Exposure but will double check.
Er, I think I'll wait for someone else to be the guinea pig on that.
I've seen a bit too many claims of electronic MWB falling a little short. ![]()
Besides, I'm no longer in a rush. With Gates and Amphibico predicting April/May releases, my trip in March will be videoless. ![]()
Well you could be right on that one Ron ![]()
I'm sure they will be tripple checking to make sure it's spot on.
Should be a good unit with the Phenom Port on though.
The marzipan on the new cake looks great...
The Icing covering the cake is looking good...
But how will the cake look and taste as the candles get blown out...
Another wait and see situation.
Ronrosa..Thats a bummer for the trip. Can't you hire another cam for the trip. You don't want a special moment missed. Also give you an option of trying out a different housing manufacturer.
Wags, Any word on the new wide angle from Amphibico...

The 100 degree lens that they are working on for the EVO etc will not work on the Endeavor so I take it will be either the Phenom Port or standard as a option.
Also the rear door on the new EVO HD SE for the UX1 & SR1 will not be able to go on our EVO's we already have now. Have to wait for the new External LCD.
Man this is a hot topic this one...how many views to it....
Will it work on my PD-170 housing ?The 120 degree lens that they are working on for the EVO etc will not work on the Endeavor
That's typical..
'New lens doesn't fit new housing shocker' read all about it.
You'd have thought.. they would have thought..
Unless the lens is going to be like the 120 degree for the Dive buddy plus..That was o.k I suppose. Although no full zoom thru.

The VX7, lens opening is nearly the same as the FX1 so the 100 degree lens will not fit, but it should fit on
on all the other normal type housings like the PD170 / EVO's Navigator etc. I will double check.
Phenom 94 degree port or the Macro Dome Port from what I understand will be your option on the Endeavor.
Edit....not 120 but 100 degrees.

Well I did pick up an HV10 to act as a small topside "B" camera and deck. Maybe Ryan from Reef can rent me out an Ikelite ?
Here's my review published on the www.kenstone.net site on the new VASST tutorial disc for the V1-U and FX-7. Bottom line is that if you are interested in the V1-U, it is worth getting. If the FX-7, I'd probably skip it.

Word is that L & M will be releasing housings for the new HC 5 and 7.
Steve B)
Is there a reason for this...
Will anyone from L&M come forward
Will I ever be happy in a Nappy
Find out, after the quick break...
