How about a dive-photography license !!

  1. This is getting ridiculous. If you don't allow people to shoot than the dive sites will just be left pristine, right? Wrong, companies/countries have an incentive to protect the reef to get our $s. Without our $s the majority of countries would allow reefs to be stripped of all their resources. Also I totally reject the idea that photographers cause more damage to a reef than regular divers. I believe there is a perception that photography is more damaging to reefs due to the fact that people will view photographers using parts of the ocean environment to steady themselves (sometimes this is very harmful and sometimes it isn't). The damage from non photographers is harder to spot (a few quick kicks to the reef). If you see a photographer or non photographer damaging the reef let them know in a respectful way what they are doing.

    Best and simplest suggestion.

I think that fundamentally is the approach we should have with everyone. Be respectful but let people know when their skills (or lack of) are letting them down.

  3. As part of WP, eric can hire a staff of scuba police. More government, yea, that's what we need.
