I am so excited about this camera. Finally, after many years of waiting there is actually a camera that can complete with my Oly C-7070. LX-3 was not an option since there is no cheap housing for it.
Have anyone of you heard when Canon WP-DC35 undewater housing is expected to arrive? I contacted Canon Singapore but they told its in TBA status :/

That's true, we don't know what lens attachment options will be. However, if Ikelite releases a housing for this that does NOT allow attachment of M67 lenses, it will be the first time in recent memory that they have done so and a complete break from all of their other current (and recent) housings, so I doubt this will be a problem.
Personally I have little use for threaded lenses and wish they would release a housing with integrated AD connectors so there is no need for an adapter, but perhaps that's just me. ![]()

Ummm ... pretty sure the G10 Ike doesn't allow them ...

True, but that's a very unusual case compared to the rest of the P&S lineup, and FAR bigger than the housing will likely be for the S90.
Check the table: http://www.ikelite.com/web_pages/camcanchart.html
Anything with a B or C in the external lens column (more than not) allows 67mm.
The S90 will most likely have a housing that's either sized along the lines of the S80 housing (which allows it with the 9306.81 adapter) or the SD990 housing (which has a "C" in the given column... works with the 9306.81 adapter).
Wait and see ..but I'm sure that it will be difficult to use wide angle lense like Inon UWL 100 with the Canon s 90 even with an adaptater , there will be probably vignetting .
I don't expect anything so I won't be disapointed !! ![]()
Anyway I wait impatiently this, ultracompact camera , with raw , full manual control , new sensor ..and so on ..

Unfortunately I suspect you're right. It was the same situation with my S80... macro no problem, but wide angle options are slim to none.
I'm hoping maybe the Fantasea BigEye lenses (such as those used with the G10) will help a little, if they can be made to fit? But I don't know if there are any true fisheye lenses that will work.
I'm no worse off than I was with my now-dead S80, though, so it's fine for me. ![]()
I used the Inon wide angle lense with my S80 and thought it was pretty good. How wide do you want to go?
What I don't understand is this: if the Inon WA lens is only compatible w/ a 35mm lens on the camera - why not just zoom the camera from 28 to 35mm?????
Cheers
James

Which Inon lens? (model) How did you attach it? What was your FOV? Got any sample pics? Now I'm curious... Ryan at Reef pretty much talked me out of bothering, but maybe I'll consider it again for my S90 now that it's at least new and worth spending money on. The Inon WA lens is not not a fisheye, unless I'm mistaken, but it still might be worth pursuing.
I think I read that true wide angle is > 100 degree FOV, but more is better... a good fisheye lens + dome gets close to 180 degree, IIRC.

have been wondering about this myself. Is it something to do with distance of lens to the sensor? If so, what would be the right distance and could is not be compensated using different housing/port configurations? otherwise, the zoom technique seems the obvious solution.
Ikelite's housing specs for the S90 are out: http://www.ikelite.com/web_two/can_s90.html
All camera controls except the rear control dial are operational through the housing...
The front of the lens port accepts the #6420 W-20 and other 67mm threaded wide angle or macro lenses without the need for an adapter.
Very good new !! ![]()

Yes, I saw that yesterday. Ikelite's own people don't even know it's out... they had to look it up on the website, and refresh their browser to see it. LOL And perhaps they can fix the code soon, since the title of the page refers to a Nikon camera. Whoops!
Reef is looking into the housing, but while the info is finally published on Ike's site, they still don't know when it will actually ship (Ike still says Early Nov), or what the final price will be. (please let Reef's price be under MSRP!)
I haven't decided if I'm happy about the front ring control pointing to the front, toward the right side of the housing as opposed to simply being on the left of the housing (like it is on the Canon OEM housing). I guess I'll see when I get it. Looks kind of awkward, though. ![]()
Bummer about there being no way to spin the back control wheel. I guess we'll have to use workarounds like the Canon OEM housing for the S80 required (hold print and up/down to adjust). I suppose I'll get used to it.
I guess with this style case you can't see the o-ring all around the back, like you can with the larger housings? Definitely not pleased with that... that's one feature I was always very happy with re my S80 Ike housing. Perhaps it's a non-issue once we can see it in person, but it doesn't look like it from the photos on the site.

Ikealite website lists $325 MSRP
I have a S90 on order, and the Canon Case (not available yet). I am trying to decide whether I should get the Ikealite housing instead of the Canon.
I know no one has used either yet, but any general advice on Ikealite vs. Canon housings would be appreciated.
I have a dive trip in December and would like to get one or the other next month.
I will be using a Inon 2000 strobe with it ( Upgrading from my old Oly 5050 )
Thanks
Incidentally, Ikelite just emailed me to say there is no AD option with the case for the S90, only 67mm threaded.
This may be a deal-killer for me. I have a pair of Inon macro lenses (both AD) that I really don't want to have to sell and replace with 67mm versions. (Not to mention the ULCS caddies for them)
Release date is definitely looking more like mid-Nov than early Nov, they're saying.
I strongly prefer Ike to the OEM stuff from Canon, but it I can't use my lenses, forget it.

There are now 67mm versions of all the BigEye W/A , SharpEye Macro (4x) and RedEye red filters in 67mm
So if it takes 67mm then they will fit. They fit other Ike 67mm ports.
At least that what Eye know...;-)

Ive just purchased teh G11, as an upgrade from my G9 and im very impressed with the camera so far. Just waiting to get the OEM housing. Im keen to stick some WA glass on it, ive seen the Fantasea 67mm adapter for the housing (@JackConnick I know you are able to ship these to the UK!) and im keen to know which Inon WA lense would be compatible with this setup - assuming it will work ok without too much worry of vignetting?
Im assuming it would be the UWL-100?
Many thanks,
Mark

There will be vignetting according to Fantasea's tech support. Using an adapter with the wide angle lenses moves the lens away from the port. Whether or not it is objectionable is hard to know, but you will loose FOV.
The BE G10/11 does not have vignetting.

Will Fantasea have a S90 housing with threaded port?
Have any of you had experience with the new Ikelite compact housings? I have always had good luck with Ikelite products but have never owned this new flip open hinged type? I am also concerned about the short trigger, can that be lengthened?
The S90 with the Inon dome 100WAL could be a winner for me. I think I can use my 165FE on it also with my custom AD to 67mm adapter.
Here is how you make an adapter, you get a 67mm ND filter and remove the glass, you get an old Inon AD adapter on Ebait, you remove the bayonet section from the Inon adapter and then set it into the threaded ring, carefully position it, pour thick 30 minute epoxy around the exterior, let it set up, voila, AD to 67 mm adapter. You will have to carefully, file, sand, machine (in my case) the pieces to fit as close as possible to the camera housing port. This will work for both macro and wide angle depending upon the camera and housing, it will always work for macro, wide angle has other issues.
I bleieve that I can add a spinner control for the back control dial, however, from the manual it appears that when the camera is in Manual that the up and down buttons duplicate the control functions of the wheel, set the front control ring to aperture and the up and down for shutter--I think, not positive yet.
In Av or Tv you will adjust the setting with the front ring, exposure compensation via the plus or minus exposure bias.
So, I don't think the rear control ring is required?
