When did you get this info? When I spoke with Nauticam a month ago they were working on the G7 housing, and it was expected to be ready around September. It would really suck if they don't make a housing for this camera.
I am a little confused because the Nauticam USA site clearly shows a housing for the GX7:

I would expect they will soon make a housing for the GX8, as this seems to be currently the best m4/3 camera for underwater.

Thanks, that is not good news ![]()
How can it not be compatible with the ports as the ports are dependent on the lens used which are Panasonic and Olympus lenses widely used on many different Nauticam housings?Alex from Nauticam UK told me the G7 project has been abandoned by Nauticam because it would have not been compatible with the current set of ports

I wonder if it is too much trouble to machine a brand new design rather than adapt a current one ie OMD EM5 MK 2 being a reworked EM5 housing?
I have no specific details or could have to do with the body shape
Thought it might be the depth of the grip close to the lens opening or similar.

It appears to be true
Apparently the camera is too big and interferes with the standard N85 housing opening
Can't understand how they are unable to work around it... I would imagine there will be a lot of people wanting that housing, me being one of them.
Not really the G7 other than 4K is an average camera with image quality that is not great and for underwater a slow flash sync speed
G7 has indeed been cancelled. The issue, as speculated here, is the front - back depth of the hand grip. The thick grip would have moved the N85 Port mount forward, affecting compatibility with all of the micro four thirds lenses supported, and necessitating a port system dedicated to the G7 housing.
GX8 is no problem, and that high priority design is moving forward.

Do you know the eta for the gx8 housing?
So, after have a look at the GX8. It appears its not all its cracked up to be in terms of Video and 'Dual-IS'
The Dual-IS is great (with Panasonic lenses) for still photography and works wonders, this uses the OIS for the lens, and also sensor shifting technology a bit like the Olympus 5-axis IBIS
However for video, its a bit of a lame duck...
None of the in-body stabilisation works with 4K video, so you will have to rely on the Mega-OIS from the Panasonic lenses. Alas the 7-14mm doesn't have that either ![]()
If you use the camera in 1080p mode, you gain access to the 'E-Stablisation' option, this however isn't the sensor shifting, its the older type of using the full feed from the sensor and cropping it down to 1080, based on camera movement, so its doing calculations on the movement and cropping/modifying. Not good.
So its electronic stabiliser only. To be honest the same happens with Sony as well in 4k only lens shift stabiliser works. Considering that lens shift only covers tilt and pan am not sure it is such a big deal that the 7-14mm is not stabilised??
Housing just announced few days ago

It's not much bigger than the GX7 except higher

Really, really looking forward to some underwater RAW samples of the GX8 and also some uncompressed 14 bit RAW Sony samples to compare them to. That's a hint Nauticam!
Dxomark sensor rating puts the GX8 on top of micro four third segment however the improvement on the GH4 is minimal

Any one used this underwater yet? Has it got the better manual white balance from the LX100?
lX100 custom white balance is very good with warmer colours than other Panasonic. I opted out the GX8 as for stills is not much of an improvement on the Gx7 and decided to invest in a Sony for video
