The AOI trigger has a hot-shoe attachment that has all 5 pins. I haven't checked to see if all are actually connected. I pretty much am not too interested in HSS but would like to play to see if I could get it to work.  Shoting mostly slowly moving little things doesn't seem to be a good use case for HSS but maybe something will come up.

The main thing is whether the trigger registers as a flash.  If it does the camera takes over and says no setting SS over 1/250.  Then the Trigger has to pretend to be a flash to allow include high speed sync as an option and let you raise the shutter speed.

For what it's worth, I just checked my SeaFrogs trigger, which is dumb as a post - the only connections are the trigger pin in the middle and ground on the sides - on my Sony A6700. There are no shutter speed restrictions, and in fact it appears to sync at up to 1/250s - at 1/320s, there is a narrow dark strip at the top of the frame, gradually growing until it covers the whole frame at 1/2000s (at 1/1600s, there is still a narrow strip of light at the very bottom). I'm guessing it might be different on Olympus/OM Systems cameras?

I would guess the same performance on Olympus but the black strip appears after about 1/400  as reported my many here for the Nauticam trigger.  The main thing is the camera has no clue the trigger is there so won't restrict shutter speed.

Well, the AOI trigger is smart (I thought so since it could do RC mode) and with the OM-1 the shutter speed won't go above 1/250.  Oh well.

Is this with the MF-2?  I was able to get faster than that with the OM-1/AOI/MF-2 by following the instructions further up in the thread.  Even with those settings in camera, I could only get 1/250 with Sea&Sea Duos, so the strobes have to be willing to play ball as well.

How did you enable the FP mode? My OM-1 has RC mode, where do you change it to FP. The instructions above work with the EM-1 MK III but not with my OM-1 at least.

Look at pages 298-299 of the OM-1 pdf manual, sequence is set flash/camera to RC mode, open super control panel (OK button) then select flash mode.  You can change to FP there.

Tried it with my Olympus flash attached and the response time was quite OK with camera in manual expsoure mode.

Thanks, I think I got it working, at least I can set a 1/400 shutter speed now on the camera, but if I connect the MF2 in HSS mode and shoot everything is black. If I put the MF2 in SC  or SC macro mode things seem to work.

Weirdly, I can shoot the AOI (in RC mode) at 1/640 with no banding. I guess I shouldn't try to figure out how this is working but it appears to be.

Thanks

Bill
