I used one of those enclosures with a crucial NvME SSD

After some entusiasm I notice that it was slowing down when processing video files. It turns out that even if the enclosure was coooled the drive was throttling as it has its own temperature management that does not speak to the enclosure well

The throttled speed in my case was slower than my external 7200 RPM

Other accidents (that happen also with the sabrent EC-WPNE you have is that when use monitor the enclosure find out with in most constellation it is not outputting more than 5 Gbps

After this misadventure I decided to buy an external SSD that had been bench tested instead of running my own compatibility experiments. Fortunately I was able to return the enclosure and SSD as I found out immediately but if I was not doing a video project I would have never found out

Thanks.. good to know. I do little video and working great performance wise for my use.

There you go. List pulled using comparison engines like Geizhals and Idealo. Note that prices were actually lower in some cases in last weeks. However according to industry rumors NAND prices might see 20-50% price hike this year, hence it could be prices are slowly rising.
List is by no means exhaustive nor takes into account any periodic deals that are often present on SSD market.

    Reference Samsung T7 4TB, USB 3.2 10Gbps - 239 Euro
    -------------------------------------------------------
    -------------------------------------------------------
SSD Internal around 200 Euro, PCIe 4.0, 7000MB/s speeds (when using full M.2 NVMe interface)
    -------------------------------------------------------
    Emtec X400-10 SSD Power Pro PCIe 4.0 4TB - 189 Euro
Innovation IT PerformanceY Heatsink PCIe 4.0 4TB - 203 Euro (Note that heatsink is included)
    Kingston NV2 NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSD 4TB - 215 Euro
    Lexar NM790 NVMe PCIe 4.0 4TB, M.2  - 225 Euro
    Patriot Viper VP4300 Lite PCIe 4.0 4TB - 235 Euro
    Verbatim Vi7000G PCIe 4.0 4TB - 239 Euro
TeamGroup Cardea Pro PCIe 4.0 4TB - 245 Euro (Note that heatsink is included)

SSD External USB 3.2 Gen 2×2,

All offer  USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 with a maximum theoretical speed of 20Gbps. Their Read/Write speeds are generally described as "up to ~2050 MB/s or so"
    ----------------------------------------
LaCie Rugged Mini Portable SSD   - 363 Euro
    Crucial X10 Pro - 329 Euro
    ADATA SE880    - 195 Euro (*2TB version, no 4TB version available)
    Kingston XS2000  -   318 Euro
    Transcend ESD380C -    276 Euro

    USB 3.2 Enclosures - 10Gbps
    ---------------------------------------------------
    Sabrent EC-WPNE, USB 3.2 - 35 Euro, rated IP 67

    RaidSonic Icy Box IB-1817M-C31 - 26 Euro

    USB-C 3.2 2x2 Enclosures - 20 Gbps
    ---------------------------------------------------
    RaidSonic Icy Box IB-1916M-C32 - 44 Euro
DeLOCK USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 External Enclosure - 70 Euro
    Lindy USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 NVMe M.2 SSD Enclosure - 78 Euro
    SilverStone MS12 - 56 Euro

Note that I am not finding much about rugedness info about those (short of Sabrent), though they do appear beefy enough, especially given there are no mechanical parts in SSD,

    USB-C 4 - 40Gbps

While these are rather scarce at the moment, with USB 4 standard still being new, there are some choices. I was also able to find an actual USB 4 SSD as well:

    SSD External USB 4:
    ---------------------------------------------------
    ADATA SE920 - 329 Euro (*2TB version, no 4TB version available)

    USB 4 Enclosures:
    ---------------------------------------------------
    DeLOCK USB4 40 Gbps External Enclosure - 183 Euro
    Yottamaster USB4 - 109 Euro
Targus HyperDrive Next USB4 NVMe SSD Enclosure - 105 Euro - appears to be rated IP55
Satechi USB4 NVMe SSD Pro Enclosure - 119 USD (not listed yet in DE; price from Satechi website)

You can of course add more to the list, if you venture more into Aliexpress territory.

So say I am going for USB 3.2, 10Gbps, cheapest possible:

    Sabrent EC-WPNE, USB 3.2 - 35 Euro
    Emtec X400-10 SSD Power Pro PCIe 4.0 4TB - 189 Euro
    -----
Total 224 Euro. Still less than T7. Better protection too.

    USB 3.2 2x2, 20Gbps version:

    RaidSonic Icy Box IB-1916M-C32 - 44 Euro
    Emtec X400-10 SSD Power Pro PCIe 4.0 4TB - 189 Euro
    -----

Total 233 Euro. Still less than T7. And 2x speeds. Cheapest comparable - Transcend ESD380C , 276 Euro

    USB 4:

Targus HyperDrive Next USB4 NVMe SSD Enclosure - 105 Euro
    Emtec X400-10 SSD Power Pro PCIe 4.0 4TB - 189 Euro

    -----
Total 294 Euro. Finally we are over T7 price. And at 3x T7 speeds. Cheapest comparable - does not exist, other than 2TB version of ADATA SE920 at 329 Euro.

    Nice list thanks for posting.

    I have the Sabrent EC-WPNE with a SABRENT 2TB Rocket Nvme M.2 2280

Was just under 200.00 USD amazon. I like the fact that I can swap out later for larger using the same case. that is IP67.

  3. Ill work on an Android video but I believe its the same process to add App to Home Screen.

    1. Mobile browser go to waterpixels.net

    2. User the Up Arrow Box Icon image.png in the bottom bar.

    3. Select Add to Home Screen then a screen will pop up to name. Click add in the top Right corner.

    4. Now click on the Waterpixels App icon on Home Screen and sign in.

    5. You can also activate push notifications in your Notification Settings.

I'll include some videos. First one adding the App to Home Screen & turn on Push Notifications, Second one to just shows a Push message popping up on my Lock Screen,

If we can get that going, I suggest a separate thread: "Proven 3D zoom gears" or such - and Pin it. The use this thread for the usual idle chatter.......

Great Idea, 3d printed parts in general might be good.

I was checking the profile lately and noticed a weird formatting issue - note the "g" being in the new line:

I tried to experiment with resizing, when browser window was smaller than the page, the "g" issue has disappeared but the "Additional Info" box was then rather huge:

Using Firefox in 3840x2160 resolution, though also tested in the wretched Chrome at 1920x1080, with the same results.

Perhaps we could shorten the descriptions and just say "Camera" and "Strobe/Lights" ?

    Thanks, Ill take a look

  6. Certainly plenty people do this.

Quick search on Thingiverse shows some.

If you find what you're looking for you can send to a 3d printer service in your area and they will even print it for you (normally pretty cheap to have parts printed) if you don't have a printer.

Im sure others will chime in there are other sites to look for as well.

You could create your own in Tinkercad pretty easily if you have measurements then send the STL to a printer.

  7. Nauticam Nikon Z6/7 NA-Z7 - Used & Never flooded, normal wear but in great working condition. Housing was sent to Reef & Photo June of 2022 for an Overhaul and Rebuild.

Asking 1800 USD. + Shipping in the US. Globally we can discuss shipping in PM but I imagine it will not be worth it.

The back window has a slight scratch but it's not bothersome or was not to me anyway. Also Ii took the photos before putting it fully together it includes 3 ball mounts, you'll see one missing in the photo. But it will be there, also the original Nauticam Bag not in photos.

If you want additional photos PM me.
