About Me
I grew up in San Diego as a surfer. In 1986 I decided to get certified to give me something to do when there wasn't any surf. Soon I found myself diving all the time. Like everyone else I grew up watching Jacque Cousteau and even met him once and grew more passionate just listening to him. In 1988 I bought my first Nikonos camera and started taking photos on every dive. I didn't know much about photography let alone underwater photography. I went through a lot of film learning. I became a Divemaster in 1989 and worked at a dive shop so I was diving all the time.
Through the years I've tried all kinds of photography. Purchased a Nikon D1X and D1H when they first came out. After a 20 year career as a police officer I retired in 2016. First thing I did was become a PADI instructor and 100 ton Captain then moved to Key Largo. Soon after my wife and I started a dive charter company and was busy from day one. I dove 100-120 times a month for years. I enjoyed the little opportunities I did get to take photos but that was limited because of guiding and teaching. I only really got to enjoy when we would vacation which was also for diving.
After selling the company I decided to get more involved in underwater photography. Currently I use a Sony A7Riii, Canon 5Dmk4 and a Canon M50mk2 all in Nauticam housings and soon a Sony A7RV. I use the Nauticam 230 dome, WACP-1, macro ports. Inon Z330's and Backscatter MF1&2.
