  1. I'm considering doing either this, or taking apart the lens and removing the focus ring. Not sure which would be the easier solution!
  2. I'm actually on a N100 system, but I'm using the N85 4"wide angle port as Nauticam no longer make it in the N100 version. On even further inspection, there's I think the focus ring is just a bit too wide, and there's also a small bump on the lens which is preventing the lens from going in. You can see the little nub just underneath the label about the minimum focus distance.
  3. My #36137 N85 4"wide angle dome port finally came in and big disappointment for Sony shooters - the 50mm macro can't fit in the N85 opening. Annoyingly, that's quite a bit of money down the drain. EDIT: actually on closer inspection, I only need maybe less than a millimeter extra diameter for it to fit.... I'm wondering if I could widen it with something like a dremel...
  4. I've never heard of this dive site in Okinawa! Do many dive operators do this dive? I'll have to come back soon.
  5. I have the same issue, I believe it's due to the Shorts format. I think once you get past 3m, you're limited by resolution. I thought about getting a 360 camera for B-roll, but decided against it because the quality of footage you get is nowhere near an action camera.

  7. Unfortunately it's only manual focus.
  8. https://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/61105226 This can help explain why .TIFF files are so large. Simply put, they are uncompressed.
  9. My experience with air bubbles between the port and the wet lens is that it usually appears as tiny dark spots on the image, but otherwise doesn't really affect image quality. I do make a habit of "burping" my lens every time I enter the water. Sometimes it's also needed when you go through another diver's bubbles. I also believe that the MFO lens may only really improve the sharpness at the edges of the frame, by correcting for chromatic aberrations from shooting through a flat port. So crops of the corners may be helpful.
  10. PM'ed you.
  11. Well from my limited emails with Nauticam, they were very insistent that the N85 4" inch port was incompatible with the Sony 50mm 2.8 macro lens, and proceeded to suggest their recommendations from their port chart.
  12. I tried ordering it directly from Nauticam who told me it was discontinued. I managed to find two online stores who still have it in stock, and ordered from one, still waiting for it to get delivered. Then I'll try it with the #36137 4"dome port and see how well it works.
  13. Finally catching up on Underwater Photography Show episodes and got to the one about curved ports for wider macro shots. In the comments, @Alex_Mustard mentions using the Sony 50mm with the Nauticam 4" port and a custom 16mm port extension. Unfortunately the one he mentions has been discontinued. There is a N85 version available which should still work with the 50mm macro, but Nauticam's N100 to N85 adapter (which would have been perfect as its 20mm) has also been discontinued. Are there any other options other than going fully custom?
  14. Are the main differences between this and the UM5.5 the presence of physical buttons and USB charging?
  15. You can refer to this thread here. I don't think anyone has done a direct comparison of both lenses yet.
  16. From INON UFL-G140 ZD user manual: I suppose the lens is working in terms of it not vignetting... I just hoped the sharpness would be better.
  17. Don't have my Gopro with my at the moment, I believe the 8:7 setting is the entire sensor, so its the widest available aspect ratio. I believe I had Hypersmooth on. The GoPro should be taking 8:7 RAW photos too, I didn't take any photos with the GoPro this trip though.
  18. You're correct! Yes they're different lenses... I might have to try the AOI lens now.
  19. Another 8:7 video with the Inon lens, placed in a 16:9 timeline so the corners can be seen. Some of the warping could be due to the stabilization applied in DVR. A bit disappointed with the corners when using the 8:7 aspect ratio. However, the labs firmware makes editing Gopro videos significantly more pliable.
  20. GoPro 11, INON UFL-GR140 ZD, Labs firmware, 8:7 5.3k 30fps, 10-bit colour, GoPro LOG profile (WIDE + LOGB=400), NR01=0, Stabilised, colour graded + noise reduction in DVR I think the sharpness still falls away in the corners, but it does let you get closer. Can provide RAW video files if anyone wants.
  21. It "works" with the 28-60mm Sony lens, but vignettes as expected in the wider focal lengths.
  22. How was your experience with the 16-25? Which 180mm dome are you using? The N100 180mm dome (#37129) or the N120 180mm dome (#18809)?
  23. Does the MFO-1 work with the Sony 28-60mm?
