  1. I have actually one strobe at each end. And I can adjust the trim without changing the stobes position.
  2. one additional thing for my configuration : ad the floats are not on the arm axes, you can easily adjust the front-back trim by rotating the arm-float around its axe without changing the global position.
  3. The cheapest solution : Some plumbing pipe form local dealer (castorama for me in France). I cut the right pipe length to have buoyancy adapted to my setup, and its perfectly neutral. In addition I 3d printed a support so it doesn't move on the arms with a hole for the fiber I have 2 sets, one for fresh water and one for salt water. Total cost for both is around 30€ (The black wrapping is only cosmetic...) I use them since 4 years, with many dives up to 40m with no issues.
  4. Pro have now again all needed ports including HDMI and SDcard, but Air have still 2 usb-c. I have a pro M1 with 2 usb-c and it is sometime a little bit painfull when you forgot your adapters...
  5. Vimeo is a good alternative, where you can ensure quality is not modified by provider.
  6. I'm using since several years in my Retra Pro X, both Eneloop pro (2500, black) and IKEA LADDA (2450, now grey, white before). I'm not able to see any differences between them. In terms of recycling time or number of pictures. Ikea Ladda batteries are also made in Japan, and my understanding is that they are build in same factory than Eneloops. you can find many comparison tests on internet, and conclusions are that they have same capabilities, probably only the branding is different. The major difference is the price. Ladda is half the price, perhaps even less. When you have Retra with extensions and want 2 set of batteries, 32 AA are needed. So if you can save a little... my 2 cents...
  7. wondering why not switching to lithium. Okar response is "II sticks with AA NiMh because they’re travel-safe, everywhere to find, and rock-solid reliable". Not really convinced. having to deal with 8 AA on each strobe, plus spare set, mean 32 AA... Lithium have proved their usability on video lights, and in most of the new strobes... And price (including mandatory power extension) is around 2000$ per strobe excluding VAT. Not cheap...
  8. are your Z8 HDMI handshake issues only with the 5" Weefine or also with the 7" ?
  9. Other solution (but not cheaper...), have a Shearwater Nerd on rEvo rebtreather. One eye on the Nerd, one on the viewfinder. Even better than having the computer on the the photo setup. (Nerd is mounted on the rebreather loop, just facing the eyes)
  10. One point is the weight of the batteries. Weight restrictions for carry-on are more and more important (each individual bags were weighted in my last trip last week in La Reunion) Having batteries in boxes allows to put them in jacket pockets. 32 AA in 4 boxes give a total of more than 1,2kg. Combining with other heavy items in jacket (macro lenses, ..), you can stay at a reasonable bag weight (even if above, but not too much). You cannot do it with batteries remaining in strobes. I have Retra ProX since 4 years, and superchargers since 2 years. Beside the painful AA batteries handling, they work correctly. My previous strobes were S&S YS-D2. 3 of them died with broken tube...
  11. I have zen 170mm with oly 8mm and it is very versatile ok for split shots and small focus distance
  12. You can also use a wine bottle vacuum pump. It is cheaper and compatible.
  13. I have some PLA parts outside in garden (not for underwater use) ok since several years. The most "dangerous" thing is the inside of a car under direct sunlight. There PLA will start to deform. No issue with TPU, don't remember having tested with PETG
  14. to come back to AA vs Lithium discussion: I have 2 ProX initialy without extender. Very frustrating because most of the time with 2 subsequent shots, the second one was not lighted. I added battery extenders ($$$), and issue was no longer there, but -good, but not exceptional recycle time. -with the cost of higher overall length (not critical) -more manipulation with a total of 8 O-ring. With some time to time difficulties to insert extenders. -many batteries. 2 sets of 16 AA (because in some situations you don't have time of possibility to recharge, especially with 3 dives per day. With lithium batteries, I expect -better capacity : it sems ok. Enough for 3 dives ? -bette recycle time : not sure how it compares to Pro X...
  15. Done some tests with various settings, and it seems that the easiest way to identify the S-Macro position is the "Max aperture" exif tag, with a value of 5.0 at S-Macro and 3,6 for others. I will try to find some time to post more details
  16. Thanks Chris. I will make some tests to see how values are changing.
  17. Hello does someone know if this is possible to see in EXIF or other what was the position of the focus limiter switch ? S-Macro, 0,25-0,50, 0,25-∞ Ideally in Lightroom. I check also OM Worspace and Image-Exiftool tool, but did not thing anything relevant...
  18. Having already tried RRM outside water, I can imagine the headhache 🙂 yes, eyes are the most interessant. Taken with the 70D or the R7 ? I think I have already see some of the picures...
  19. A little bit more than 800$ for a pair (50$ saving for each if you order before 8th of July). This is not cheap, but if you compare with the price of empty 4 to 8 AA booster... It's double the battery life, so you can probably dive 1 day with only 2 packs instead of 32 AA... But recycle time is only 10% better. Expect more for a Li-Ion strobe.... And I love (or not...) the sentence "NOTE: The USB-C charging cable is not included with the Retra Power Vault."
  20. Hi JB did you set your Z330 to ignore the preflash ? small button on right. Push or pull, I do not remember...
  21. I wonder if FLEX/TPU is less prone to have water going inside...
  22. Seen issue with the salt deposit on the glass. I was clearly able to see the mesh pattern of the neoprene cover on the glass. This disappear with cerium oxyde cleaning (my glass had no coating, so it is not a problem) Now, I use the neoprene cover during the dive for protection, and have a hard cover used afterward.
  23. I use same kind of 4mm cable with EM1 mk2 and FL-LM3 triggering Retra Pro-X It works alse very well.
  24. With EM1-mk2 I use Oly 8mm also behind Zen DP170 dome and IQ is very good. I also have the Pana 7-14 behind the same dome with an extension, and previously behind a Nauticam 6" dome, but in both cases quality is not as good than 8mm with Zen dome, and the 7-14 ens is prone to flare. No longer used it since several years...
  25. Well known picture of seahorse with ear bud from Justin Hofman seems to be legit....
