Proven 3D printed Parts For Underwater Imaging
Made a very simple snoot for Inons S220 - print and fit was perfect - can't say anything about the function yet. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:7129178

RX100VA Close-Up Options - Lens Advice Needed
@Chris Ross@humu9679 Thanks to both of you (I didn't know, that there was such a chart). I didn’t express myself very clearly – I’d like to use it for freediving, but also for scuba diving. Would it still be advisable to start with the UCL-165, since the greater working distance makes it easier for getting started? As for freediving, what I usually do is use the first dive just to look at and choose what I want to photograph, and then on the second dive I take the actual shot. Exceptions apply, of course :-D.

RX100VA Close-Up Options - Lens Advice Needed
Hi everyone, this March I’ll finally fulfill my dream of traveling to Raja Ampat - reason enough to consider a small additional purchase 😄. Up to now I’ve been shooting with my compact setup: RX100 VA / S-220 + SF01 / Inon UWL-95S + Dome for wide-angle work. However, I’d also like to capture close-up shots — not just “true macro” but also detail shots of larger subjects. My question is: when it comes to close-ups, is this realistically achievable with the RX100 in terms of working distance to the subject? Or will the working distance be too short to make it practical? Especially when freediving? Since I’m currently using the XD-Mount system, I’ve been looking at the INON UCL-90 XD (+11) and the UCL-165 (+6), but I’m completely open to other suggestions — I can use an XD-Mount adapter if needed. Thanks in advance for your insights!

2nd Strobe - but which one?
Thanks for your thoughts @ChipBPhoto @jlaity. It's a really tough decision for me, my mind tells me to buy a 2nd S220 for obvious reasons like already mentioned (smaller, lighter, easier to travel therefore and a even light pattern. But on the other hand there's a small devil that asks me all the time: shouldn't you go for the bigger one, because more power and more beam angle is more and more is better? 😄 In case I would use 1x S220 & 1x Z330 - would the power output by using S-TTL be equal (or kinda equal) of both strobes? Or would it be like (e.g.) 60% power S220 and 60% power Z330 - but ofc, 60% of Z330 would be more power as 60% of the S220? In my thoughts it should be as first mentioned and to get an even light pattern I would have to use both strobes manually (or at least one of it)? Since then the decision towards S220 could be easier, since adjusting strobes while freediving is time I rather would use (at least most of the time) for other things like composition e.g. e.g. 🙂 (if there's no devil). But please correct me if I'm wrong!

Modular 3D printed floats
Especially the arm floats 🙂 Ok thanks, I thought about printing complete arms including 1" balls, guess theres nothing else, just have to try it.

Modular 3D printed floats
That sounds really nice to me and 100 ft. would be enough for me. @Dave_Hicks May you could share some print parameters for copy cats like me? (wall thickness e.g.) 🙂 I also want to print ones on my printer, at first I thought about PETG, but sealing by using acetone is a good point for using ABS instead.

2nd Strobe - but which one?
Hey guys, I‘m actually using a single strobe setup and are looking for a 2nd strobe to complete my setup. Actually I use 1x Inon S220 together with my RX100 va. Now I‘m pending wether I go for a second S220 or getting a used Z330, budget wise both options are kinda similar, may the S220 is slightly cheaper (but therefore new). My focus is still at WA, therefore I thought getting a more powerfull 2nd strobe could be worth, but I have no experience if it works via STTL and looks harmonic in the end. Also I‘m unsure if the more in power is worth the weight I have to carry around while travelling nor if it makes a hudge difference by using it while freediving. Any suggestions? Thanks!

San Francisco / LA in April 2025
Hello everyone! In mid-April 2025, I’m planning a little road trip along the West Coast of the USA for her. As a balance, I’m looking to include 2 diving days either in San Francisco or LA (or both...). Do you have any experiences, tips, or recommendations for me? I'm really intrested in seeing the kelp forests, sea lions e.g. So far, I’ve mostly found online offers for PADI courses or week-long trips, but not for day trips like they offer in egypt e.g. Thanks in advance!

iPad for Photo Editing / Travel Gadget
Thanks for all the feedback! After reading it including the mentioned „partner“ thread I came to the conclusion, that I won‘t be able to do my idealistic workflow with the iPad, but I can live with that and the other pros still convince me to go for the iPad. Now I have to choose between a new Air or a 22 pro (new or refurbed). Spacewise I guess 128/256 gb will be most of the time enough, while using SSDs?

Roatan, Honduras
@PeterN Thank you for sharing this great video with us – I really enjoyed it! In my opinion, it would have easily made it to the podium in last year’s Action Cup. If I were editing the video myself, I might have shortened a few scenes, but please don’t take this as criticism – it’s just my personal preference, like how everyone has different tastes in music :). I would be glad if my next / first uw-video could reach the same quality as yours show...

iPad for Photo Editing / Travel Gadget
Hi everyone! I’m heading back to Egypt this November, and this time, I’d like to review and edit photos/video clips on site. Ideally, I’d like to save the files directly to my NAS while on location, so the internal storage would only be used for transferring files. Based on my research, this should be possible with an iPad that has USB-C – please correct me if I’m wrong. 1. Do any of you have experience with different iPad models and can offer comparisons on why Model A might be better suited than Model B, especially in terms of photo editing with LR/PS? 2. Is it possible to open and manage photos from a NAS over a Wi-Fi connection using the LR app on an iPad, just like on the desktop version? 3. I’m currently leaning towards the 11" model rather than the 13" because it’s more convenient for general tablet use. But are there compelling reasons to go for the larger model when it comes to photo editing? 4. Or should I really be considering a MacBook, since the mobile apps for LR/PS may not be equivalent to the desktop versions? Or is this difference negligible for an amateur photographer? I don't need brand new stuff, I'm also open for used ones - it always depends 🙂 Thanks a lot for your feedback!

Lightroom CC Question - How to Delete from NAS
Thanks everyone! I installed Lightroom Classic and there it works like you guys mentioned above. In Lightroom CC ( - NO - Classic) though, I can't select all flagged ones e.g., nor do I find the mentioned options to delete. It's very strange to me, that the version - without - Classic doesn't have the same essentiall functions as the Classic one. But may I'm just too blind 😄

Lightroom CC Question - How to Delete from NAS
Hi everyone, I’ve finally decided to get Lightroom to better organize my photos (I’m still quite new to this) and to efficiently sort through them. Now, I’ve rated the photos in a sample folder on my NAS from 1 to 5 stars and deselected the majority of them. How can I now delete all the deselected photos from the NAS? Unfortunately, I can’t seem to find a function for this, and the tutorials I’ve come across show this for Lightroom Classic only. Thanks! 🙂
