Tony F Posted December 15 Posted December 15 Shot was taken last month in Wakatobi. I think it's a Giant Moray, but all those white rings have me wondering. Never noticed them before on an eel. Can anyone make more of a positive id? 1
humu9679 Posted December 16 Posted December 16 I'm not certain about the species, but certainly Gymnothorax. It has the look of a Stout, too, but those are pretty small. I wonder if those white rings are moray ringworm 😉
Chris Ross Posted Monday at 04:18 AM Posted Monday at 04:18 AM Looks like a giant moray, if it is it should have a dark patch on the gill opening which seems to be behind the coral in this shot. DO you have other pics? There doesn't seem to be too many species which look similar to the giant moray you could point to as a maybe. 1
Tony F Posted Monday at 12:33 PM Author Posted Monday at 12:33 PM That's the only picture I took of it. I was most interested in getting a shot of the white rings on it.
Architeuthis Posted Tuesday at 08:57 AM Posted Tuesday at 08:57 AM I guess that the white rings are remains of a fight with an octopus...
