December 27, 20241 yr Hi All, I see many keeping the old usernames, so I’ve kept mine too! I’ve stumbled across this site whilst checking something for 3D printing and happy to have found you all. I’m Simon, I was on the old wetpixel since the first Olympus housings when I was still developing film on a liveaboard in Palau. Since then I’ve worked in Tahiti, Socorro, Philippines and Indonesia. I have owned NAD-Lembeh since 2010 with my wife, Zee. (She’s friendly, I’m techie 😂) Onsite we currently have a variety of Olympus TG series cameras and a Canon 1Dx for rental / staff cams. We have D500 and D850 rigs that were not sure what to do with at the moment. For stills I’m currently shooting a Canon R5c and the missus just got a Z8 for Christmas. We use the new Sea and Sea D3 Duo at the moment, but we still have many inon Z330’s on site. I’ll probably give the new Kraken mini strobe a try soon. For focus light there’s only one option - the FIXneo - mainly due to being able to put it down to 1% power for blackwater dives. For Video I shoot a few different options: Sony FX3 for low light performance. RED Gemini/Helium/ Raptor-X for production work. Phantom VEO4K for 1000fps high speed. GoPro for BTS bits and embarrassing clips of me speaking. Video Lensing- the Nikon 70-180mm is the standard go to lens for macro work, but with the Nauticam EMWL I use the 100mm a lot more these days. For lighting we use Kraken lights for our blackwater downlines, I use Keldan’s for my video work (high CRI), although the Krakens have worked fine as a backup. If something is unreliable we don’t use it, so if it stays on my kit list you can assume I’m happy with it - if you have any questions about any of the above please let me know. Everything but the Olympus are housed in Nauticam housings. With the amount of equipment we use, we have to pay for it. We do not take freebies for influence - although I wouldn’t mind some free holidays in the South Pacific 😂
