Nikolausz Posted Sunday at 05:27 PM Posted Sunday at 05:27 PM I've recently bought a used Nauticam housing for my Sony A6400. However, it was sold without the battery extension (it was not possible to send oversee or was sold separately). So now I'm looking for a replacement battery. Can somebody send me the dimensions and specifications of this battery and share a photo of it. Maybe I can find some similar product online Many thanks in advance Marcell
Chris Ross Posted Sunday at 11:46 PM Posted Sunday at 11:46 PM This is difficult, the batteries used are the type of product that appears for a few months and fade away and are replaced by higher capacity ones or slightly different. Also some of them go to sleep and don't wake until until you unplug/replug them. This thread talks about the battery for the A6500 hopefully its the same as the A6400 and has sone dead links, it's on the old wetpixel forum: https://wetpixel.com/forums/index.php?/topic/59443-nauticam-battery-pack-problem-a6500/ If you search, start off looking for 2000- 2500 mAhr models. Finding the required short cable with correct plugs may also be a challenge? to start you off this link is to the pack described, not in stock but click on find similar to browse, unfortunately dimensions are not provided, might be a challenge getting one to Europe though? https://www.walmart.com/ip/Ultra-Slim-Ultra-Portable-Ultra-Safe-2500mAh-Wallet-Pocket-Power-Card-Bank-ONE-for-All-External-Mini-Battery-Most-Smart-Phone-Digital-Devices-White-L/217372674

Nikolausz Posted Monday at 11:22 AM Author Posted Monday at 11:22 AM Now I have the proper dimensions (98x58x6.5mm) but it's not really a popular size. After some extensive search I still haven't found a proper one. There are few similar sized ones but they are either thicker or taller. As an alternative solution I'm thinking to add the NAUTICAM M16 USB-C BULKHEAD WITH USB-C CONNECTOR.

The USB-C bulkhead is a good solution for charging without opening the case, needs a little care when opening to dry it off and needs somewhere dry to leave the camera on charge. There's a mini review here: If you are comfortable with electronics you could probably make one up from parts like this : https://core-electronics.com.au/polymer-lithium-ion-battery-2000mah-38459.html and this: https://core-electronics.com.au/dc-dc-usb-0-9v-5v-to-5v-dc-boost-step-up-power-supply-module.html and you would need to source an appropriate charger.
Lewis88 Posted Monday at 01:32 PM Posted Monday at 01:32 PM I added the usb-c bulkhead to my A6400 Housing setup. Works great. I charge from a battery bank between dives, and I don't need to break the vacuum to change a battery (or break down my kit if using my fisheye which is front mount). If I'm diving the same lens the next day, I'll leave the housing sealed overnight and charge from the wall. 1
Nikolausz Posted Monday at 02:39 PM Author Posted Monday at 02:39 PM Sounds really good, thanks for the information.

BTW, the Nauticam aux battery originally would go to sleep. This was revised with a new connector that has some sort of chip (?) in it. Regardless, both of my booster batteries will run continuously charging the onboard battery and allow me to make up to four dives with little restriction. Usually during the fourth dive the booster becomes depleted and the camera goes to the onboard battery still fully charged. I know this because the camera starts to go to sleep rather than run continuous. I have made a third booster using this unit. The cover has to be removed. I have not used in underwater yet but it appears to function: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07JZCZSH9?ref=cm_sw_r_cso_sms_apin_dp_20AH8208SPJRT07YJC7F&ref_=cm_sw_r_cso_sms_apin_dp_20AH8208SPJRT07YJC7F&social_share=cm_sw_r_cso_sms_apin_dp_20AH8208SPJRT07YJC7F Edited Monday at 04:21 PM by Nemrod
Lewis88 Posted Monday at 06:42 PM Posted Monday at 06:42 PM I'm using this cable: Amazon.com: Poyiccot USB C to Micro USB Cable, 90 Degree Left Angle Micro USB Male to USB C Female Adapter Connector Cable Support Charge & Sync for Samsung and Micro USB Devices(Left Angle) : Cell Phones & Accessories I removed the bracket for the expansion battery, and then tuck this adapter down below the camera. 1
