  1. I will do that! I was going to wait for the X-T6, but with Nauticam+Fujifilm being uncertain, and the X-T6 being unknown - I think i'll just upgrade soon and be set for the next 4-5 years. The Fujifilm X-Ts are such natural cameras for underwater - set full manual and just use ISO, Shutter, Aperture controls - so easy! I 100% agree both statements. The increased price has stopped me for a while, but at the end, I'll probably end with a new one up in my hands... And yes, the Na-Xt3 has been my first underwater housing, now is a real natural extension of my Fuji, I LOVE It over, and also under.
  2. And what about in Nusa? I have a friend there Who recently bought a Dive Center (Temple Diving, now Mar Adentro Nusa Penida), so I'll spend part of my trip there. I Hope I'll get better viz next june!!! Something in Nusa that I definitivelly can't miss???
  3. Recently Nauticam tagged It as "manufactured on demand" and raised the price (+900€ in Europe). If you manage putting your hands over a used one, don't let It go, and if you put your hands over two used o es, please chime It to me ASAP!!! I also own a 30mm macro, so your sugestion about the WWL-1 makes sense, the Fuji primes are excelent and quite affordable, probably cheaper than a Nauticam flat port, and finding a used 18 or 23 is quite easy, so this is a very atractive option.
  4. Tranks Kevin, field test of the lenses is super information!!! As I stated before, I lack any knowledge or experience with Mantas... Do you think those setup coud work??? BTW very nice pictures, I specially like the first one...
  5. It's sad, but I think you are 100% true. As stated before I am mainly a macro shooter (due to the characteristics where I mainly dive), and also take my Fuji to my treks in the mountains, so I benefit of the crop sensor size, there's nothing that appeals me from a, let's say an a7rV except mp and it'sf ocus ability and, in my particular case, the rest are downsides (price, bulk, price of the housing...) I know It IS a Monster as an underwater camera, but not for me. Not to mention the feelings. I LOVE the analogic taste and experience when using my X-t3, hardly to find in another camera brand, even more difficult one that can be housed, that's why I'm so happy that Nauticam makes those excellent housings for the Fujis... But the trend is clear in my opinion, and I can't but agree you. Best Regards.
  6. Thanks again Chris, I'll try to contact Tino, It's obvious he has much experience with the X-t3 on Nauticam housing. I also wrote to Nauticam, Hope they can provide more information. The Tokina has allways appealed me, and I don't discard making a try some day (perhaps sooner than later if the wet optics approach doesn't work) but at the moment, my safest approach would be wet lenses. I'll try to explain: I don't 100% trust Nauticam continues involved making housing for Fujifilm cameras. They recently discontinued the Na-Xt5 housing (despite being probably the best aps-c camera at the moment) due to low sales rate. Son later, they announced there should be making them under demand, increasing the price considerabily. (I am still praying for finding a pre-owned Na-Xt5 housing, being this close to Mission: Impossible) Those movements make me doubt if at the time I have to retire my X-t3 combo I'll be forced to change camera brand, being the so hated for me Sonys the best aspirants. If this worst case scenario happens, I'll have to invest Big money in new lenses and ports, but the wet lenses still be usefull, saving me some bucks. In the other hand, there is the image quality question. Tokina + 100mm dome Vs 16-50 + MWL Vs 16-50 + WWL. Which one is best. No one knows. And, last but not less, and I gess this is why you suggested me the Tokina, what is the best and most versatile tool for what I want to take. I'll keep on investigating and for sure I'll write about the results, just in case other crazy Fuji user can find It usefull. Thanks a lot.
  7. Hi Chris, I've always wondered why faster lenses aren't used with Nauticam wet optics, and I think you've given me the answer. I have often considered testing the 10-17, but not having confirmation that it works correctly with the Fuji cameras has stopped me (it is not listed on the Fringer website, and I have not found anyone who has tested it ). In addition to that, I can imagine that I should be quite precise regarding the distance between the lens and the dome, trying extensions that I don't have easy access to... These reasons lead me to take the wet lenses and custom flat port way.... Either option has a cost, so perhaps the best approach is to ask Nauticam, although I doubt I'll get an answer beyond "we haven't tried it yet." If this doesn't work, I'll probably follow your advice and try the 16-50 with the MWL-1 first... Thank you very much for your inputs, Chris.
  8. Hello everyone, Next May and June I'm heading to Bali. Ideally I will dive in Pemuteran (Gilimanuk), Amed and Tulamben looking for macro, and Nusa Penida looking for mantas. I currently shot a Fuji X-t3 inside a Nauticam case. I feel quite confident shooting macro, but I have to admit my nearly zero experience in wide angle and pelagic shooting. I am quite sure of the macro gear I'll bring with me (80mm and 30mm macro, as well as a CMC-1) but for wide-zoom I have some doubts. My goal is to photograph manta rays in the Nusa Penida area, generally at cleaning stations with quite a bit of current. Right now I have the Nauticam MWL-1 wet lens along with the Fujifilm 15-45, but I am not happy at all with this setup, since the 15-45 lens is difficult to use (pain in the *ss) under water due to to its electric zoom. In the Nauticam port charts, recently slimmed down for the Fujifilm N-100 mount, many of the options previously shown have now disappeared, including the setup that I have, narrowing zoom/wide options to the (very good) Fuji 16-50 2.8/4.8, together with WACP-C/1/1B. I would love to use the Fuji 16-50, but the WACP is an optic that I cannot afford at this moment, so my option would be to have a custom flat port made (Saga) and: - MWL-1 (cheaper option, since I own it) - WWL-1 (seems feasible, since the Nauticam port charts show It can be paired wit the Nikkor DX 16-50, same focal range) - WWL-C (can also be paired with the Nikkor 16-50, perhaps the best portability/image quality ratio). So, my doubts... 1- Is it feasible to pair the Fuji 16-50 with any of these wet optics??? 2- Is MWL an advantage over WWL for taking manta rays??? (I don't know how close I"ll be able to get to them, but the restrictions in Manta Bay indicate not getting closer than 3 meters) 3- Is It crazy trying to photograph these subjects with these setups, and I'd better look for another option??? 4- If all options were feasible, which one would give me the best image quality? Another options you experienced guys would consider regarding lenses/wet optics for mantas??? Any experience/tips on photographing manta rays in this destination would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all in advance. Philip.
  9. After almost four years of providing excellent service, and in order to get funds to upgrade to a Nauticam Na-Xt5, I have to part with my beloved Na-Xt3 and Fuji X-t3. The housing is in very good condition, it has been my diving partner for about 150 dives. It has never been flooded and has been cared for with love and care, always rinsed with fresh and distilled water. It has some small scratches on the base, as well as on the LCD glass (minor). I deliver it in its original carrying bag (not shown). The M14 vacuum valve shown in the images is not included. The Fujifilm X-t3 camera is in good condition, although it shows some scratches on the paint in the "prism" area. Its operation is excellent. It comes with two original Fuji batteries and three clones (not shown). The set can be expanded, if the buyer wishes, with the Nauticam MWL-1 wet optic, the Fujinon XC-15-45 lens, port and gear. 2300€ housing + camera. Shipping costs are on the buyer's expense. Some of the pictures taken with this combo at @wetdreamsphoto Feel free to ask any questions, I will happily answer my best. The kit can be checked in the Costa Blanca area - Spain. If needed, I will provide with more on detail pictures of the kit
  10. Hello Tobyone, I'm curious to know how the tests went? I am interested in this topic, since I also own a Fuji X-t3 / Nauticam equipment, and I may have access to some Nikonos optics. Any feedback regarding the quality of the files obtained and the ease of use of the lenses underwater would be wellcome. All the best.
  11. Hello, Since out of the water you are familiar with the Fujifilm ecosystem, I would consider a Fuji camera in a Nauticam case. I have been using a Fuji X-t3 in a Nauticam housing for four years and I am very happy with it, so much so that I hope to upgrade to a Fuji X-t5 and a Nauticam housing as soon as I sell my current setup. I don't know if you will have Fujifilm lenses, since the X-100 series is a fixed lens camera, but Nauticam gives you many options in both macro and wide angle for the Fujifilm system, and I don't need to tell you about the quality that you can get with a Fuji camera and any of their lenses. With my 26Mp X-t3 I have never missed a full frame camera, and I have printed some fairly large prints. I do mostly macro, and I wouldn't change my Fujinon 80mm macro for the world. If you decide to go this route, contact me and maybe we can work out a deal regarding my Fuji X-t3 + Nauticam NaXt3. In any case, if you have any questions about the Fujifilm-Nauticam system, I will be very happy to try to help you. All the best.
  12. Hi all, I am happily using at the moment a Fujifilm X-t3 in a Nauticam housing, and as I stated above, I am interested in buying a Nauticam housig for the Fujifilm X-t5, as far as It is in good condition, preferably within the european union. Best Regards.
  13. Thank you Chris. Yes, I swapped to a known working magnet, with no success, so I assume the problem is the internal switch. I will look for a technical service in Spain. Best Regards.
  14. Thanks for the advice Dave, I was planning to use It remote with a snoot, so I thought the focus light could help to point the snoot. And, in case I want to sell It, better working properly. So, if there is a chance to fix the focus light, It would be nice...
  15. I don't have a dedicated focus light, so I like It especially for macro...
  16. Hi all, I have a pair of Z-330 and the focus light stopped working in one of them. I have disassembled the magnetic switch and It is ok, I tried with another switch and the problem persist. Does anyone know a solution, or have I to send It for service?? Thank you in advance!!!
  17. Guau!!! (that is the way we write wow in spanish)... I love that hammerhead! It's like it's about to speed out like a rocket...
  18. Hello Phil, Yes, true, we have some very interesting caves in this area, the most important is the Moraig underground river, 6 km of explored galleries, 2500 m. reached (the end has not yet been reached) and depths around 100 m. And, of course, every diving zone has its "underwater Cathedral"... Diving on the Costa Blanca is not very interesting if you are looking for big stuff (groupers, rays and eagle rays are the most representative) but if, like me, you enjoy the macro world, there are many more possibilities. Further south there are much more interesting areas, with both large and small marine life, such as the Cabo de Palos marine reserve, or the Cabo de Gata natural park, in Almería, with very good diving and impressive landscapes. Don't hesitate to ask me if you visit Spain again. And my Fuji... well, it is a pleasure in combination with the Nauticam housing, dials for the most important functions, everything accessible with a simple touch, good focus, very good RAWs with fantastic color, double card, APSC size in body and lenses, very reliable... oh, and that retro look that I love. In love with the X-t3 and upgrading to X-t5 as soon as I can... A pleasure to read your comments, much appreciated. All the best!!!
  19. I miss the islands, I hope I can return next autumn... Cheers!!
  20. Flabellina affinis in Peñon de Ifach, Calpe, Spain. This is one of my favourites flabellina ever, mainly for the simplicity of the colors, and also for the "chubby" appearance of the critter. The crop is just for fun. Cheers!!
  21. That's just my go-to setup for macro, I place my two MF-1 at 10-2 just over my port, powering 4-5 at one side, 2-3 the other, and works very well for me. If the subject is further away, I separate the strobes, according to the distance of it. Sometimes I also snoot, but mostly when I am looking for black background. Great strobes the Backscatters, very good experiences with them. Sometimes the subjects are very close to the background, or there is something in the foregroung that got much light, or the colors at the surroundings of the subject are too vivid, or you simply can't get the desired lighting... Those times editing is the way to achieve the look you want for your picture. I do it all the time!!! By the way, I prefer the darker picture much more... Best Regards.
  22. Lysmata seticaudata in another fantastic dive site close to Benidorm, "La Llosa". It is a huge sunken rock few miles away of the coastline. Sometimes a bit challenging due to the currents, there you can find the most common mediterranean species, both big and small. This shrimp moved away from its host moray eel for a few seconds, allowing me to take a close-up portrait... The second picture is just a crop that shows little details of the shrimp. Taken with the Fujinon 80mm macro at f16, 1/250 ISO 160.
  23. Wellcome to the club!! Happy to hear more people using Fujifilm underwater.
  24. Sorry for the bad quality of the picture, I made it in a hurry... It is about 12,5 cm, glass to end of bayonet thread... It is a custom port, that fits really tight (about 2mm gap) with the 80mm macro. It is, suposedly, the same dimensions as the Nauticam N100 110 port. Hope it can help you!!
