  1. Welcome to Waterpixels! R1! Great investment. Is there an housing already?
  2. Welcome aboard!
  3. I can confirm that the lens is heavy and wouldn't be safe on a flip.
  4. Backscatter version works perfectly in 16:9 or 9:16. The op was experiencing vignetting using the full sensor readout 8:7. In this mode both Backscatter and AOI vignettes The Backscatter version gives you the option to use their filters.
  5. Link to your post added. Could you link a printing file? Thanks a lot

Hi Ozzie, Welcome to the "other side"

Hello eLzUb Nice to have you onboard!
  8. Hi Gmsalterego, Welcome to the forum. This is a section for member introductions at their first message. Let's tell us something about your passion first! Ciao
  9. It depends... 60 and 30mm gives you the full macro experience 🙂 Oly 60mm is the "classic" M43 macro lens. Pana 30mm is a good lens but it gets the maximum magnification very close to the lens, then you have the port and optionally the CMC-1. I guess it would be a nightmare taking photos with that lens and the diopter. Maybe someone who use it can give you a more precise feedback. 12-60 is a versatile lens for medium and close shots. With the CMC-1 on a flip holder you could get the best of the two worlds in the same dive. But keep in mind that shooting with a diopter is not like shooting with a macro lens. Sometime I use the 14-42mm and CMC-2 I think the experience would similar but more extreme. For pure macro I use the Pana 45mm and optionally the CMC-2 but I miss other two hands and another camera with a WA lens in the same dive. Maybe in another life 😉 P.S It's a shame we don't have feedbacks from @Aquatica
  10. Yes, basically with the Backscatter version you have two filter options. Backscatter slide in filters and in the future the "bghazzal ultimate gel filters" 😜
  11. I have not found those models among their lights sold here in Italy. I think the acronyms change often. Yes, a good video light should not have sharp edges. Lumens on lights in this price range are a lottery so it's only worth a practical test comparing them to other lights we trust. The important thing is that they can illuminate the scene in WA footage with your gopro.
  12. Which model? Light quality and runtime?
  13. Reflector. It's huge, empty and has a polycarbonate dome. The battery pack is the largest IATA allowed.
  14. Hi, Yes bayonet miunt is the same so they are interchangeable. Backscatter is a rebranded version of the AOI. The lens it's the same, but they offer slightly different options. Some of our members have them so the may add other info. More info here:
  15. I have several high-power LED lights but I keep using my Keldan Luna ones all the time. I bought them used as new in 2014 and they still run like a breeze now. I have had a few minor mishaps: in ten years I broke a magnetic switch and the plastic holder that holds the YS attachment. In both cases Keldan sent me the parts home free of charge. In one case Daniel keller skyped in to fix my problem immediately while I was in the boat. What more can I ask for? My original Luna's were 5000 lumens, CRI 96. Then years ago I decided to change only the LED module. At a totally affordable expense I changed the led module to the latest 9K lumen COB model also CRI 96. This is the old LED module that I kept with its little box like a jewel. New COB module on the left and old led array module on the right. The old 5K lumen module was obtained with led arrays. at that time there were no COB leds yet. I must say that maybe the light from the led array module was softer/warmer than COB. But it is my impression not supported by scientific evidence. I can imagine the care to achieve such a high light quality with all those LEDs. Note the different colors of led used. Was that their secret recipe to get a wider light spectrum with high CRI? 🧙‍♂️ Who knows... What is most striking about taking apart a Keldan lamp is the disarming simplicity of its design. All the light technology is in the led module. Externally you just have the aluminum casing and a magnetic switch that is nothing more than a plastic ring that slides with a small magnet inside it. Let's see some Keldan Luna Porn... 🐷 Led module has three pins that fits directly in the battery pack Once connected the light is turned on via an external magnet. IIRC 5 positions/power steps. This is an old battery pack, the new one has a digital display. On both there is a test switch position to check remaining battery life and there are two white leds that can be useful to check for pasta cooking time at night 😉 (the light rear cap is transparent). The huge head has an inner white diffuser like a strobe. I don't know if with the current COB module it's still needed but it's there. (No, the cat's ass is not part of the light) Real Luna Porn Once disassembled this is the inner alu tube. Everything come apart with a push of a finger. No tools needed. So keldan Luna's have the advantage of: having the interchangeable led module in water they are almost neutral respect other brands (-140 gr) Disadvantages: a very bulky head and reflector so they are a curse to travel nowadays (no problem for me because I reach by car 99% of my dive sites) You cannot use ambient filters. Actually you would need double the lumen output for effectively use ambient filters. To stay in topic, yes they have a constant light output 🙂 long story short. Over the past few months I have thought several times about replacing them with a pair of new 8Xs. Then I saw the price and I woke up all wet 😅 Though, if I put together the initial price in 2014 and the price of the two LED modules and spread it over the 10 years of use I have to say that maybe it was worth it. (In ten years I have changed 4 cameras and 3 housings and these keldan Luna are still here). Of course the initial investment is very high.
  16. Well, the topic is complex and we should reverse engineering those lights to understand exactly the technique used to drive and dim the led. AFAIK the PWM method cited by Chris is not well suited for video or photo professional lights. Despite this, it is perhaps the most widely used method of adjusting the brightness of LEDs even though in public and private lighting, caveats are used and intl. standards are followed. Then there are other methods similar to switching power supplies that work at much higher frequencies. However, I believe that a light designed for video makes use of constant current drivers. If you are passionate about the subject, I will give you some links. 17. Yes I know but it is almost impossible to be unique on all social networks. we could have used our name followed by UW Photography Forum or something similar but it was too long and we preferred to leave it that way.

    Hi Crasoner, Welcome aboard!
  19. Easydive has unveiled the new housing for Gopro and Insta360 Ace pro with built-in mini dome (split shot I don't fear you!!!) 😄 Actually reading the features it is a 160mm dome so not really mini, especially for a GoPro. the FOV remains the same. Here the product page and a YT video of Alessando Beltrame showing the housing and dome in action. (Video is in Italian but YT can translate it for you). https://www.easydive.it/en/underwater-housing/action-cam/housing-for-action-cam/actiondome-case.980.html
  20. Hello everyone, We have just launched the WaterPixels page on Facebook. The page will not have original content but will be a showcase of our most interesting discussions and articles on social networks hoping that it will attract other image makers with their experiences, contributions and questions. Please help us spread it: https://www.facebook.com/people/WaterPixels/61562852399315/
  21. Nice video and nice idea. You described everything so well that it is difficult to ask you any more questions 😁 I was just reflecting on the fact that this type of diving has really opened up a new world of discovery from a scientific point of view.
  22. Could you share the files and details in the DIY forum? Thank you in advance
  23. Power of Log C2
  24. In the meantime, let us console ourselves with this:
  25. In my home I have the most expensive doorsteps and paperweights...
