  1. I cant upload any, says there to big, i dont know how to shrink them using Adobe 5.0 yet.

Anyway to copy and paste them to the thread?

  2. I am curious if Oly is making a housing for just the 410 but not 510? In my seaching I did not find a housing from Oly. I see Ikelite, BS Kinetics, UK is planning one. Any others?

You can resize photos using almost any program. 640 x 480 will work well. Another way to do it is if you can post them on a website (Snapfish, flicker) you can then link them in. I hope that helps.

    Allen,

It is my understanding they are not. However Ikelite will and I'm sure Fantasea will follow suit.

For anyone interested...here's a little cheap DIY to allow you to keep your camera strap attached until you're ready to put the camera in the housing.

  5. Ok, I have uploaded some of my photos over the past month.

Theres about 30 of them, onto flicker

Please goto Flicker, and search fltekdiver

Please comment on my photos, and tell em what you think?

Keep in mind, I barley know how to edit, and I only got the camera a month, but somr of them came out pretty good for just learning how to use a DSLR, and no less use a DSLR underwater with dual strobes!

Please tell me what you think !! :)

  6. After getting my hands on a 410 I think it might be a nice little UW kit. Topside my wife might like it as well - it feels small in my hands - I liked the 510 better. In looking at the Oly housing for the 410 I notice that Oly makes ports for it as does Athena and now Inon.

    Here is Inon's recent anouncement:

It would appear that all are glass ports. Anyone have any thoughts on their differences? Price wise the Athena dome is quite expensive ($1500) compared to the Oly ($800) with the Inon being the least expensive ($600).

The one port that caught my is the Inon's port for the Oly 50mm Macro which instead of a focus gear uses a magnetic ring. Anyone have any experience with much a system? It is also like the Athena 50mm port in that you can add wet lenses as well.

  7. What strobe with the E-410? I come up on a dilemma. I've got a YS27DX which will work fine as my 2nd strobe but I'm wondering if the YS110 will work with optical TTL with this camera...anyone tried it? How about the YS series Duo from Sea&Sea.

Allen, please check out post #111 from this topic. It should adequately explain my thoughts regarding the Inon ports for Olympus. LMK if you have anymore q's. -David

David, I saw your notes. Are you using the magnetic ring system with your Inon port? If so how do you like it over using a focus gear? That was the main thing I was curious about. Is this your only port right now or did you also get Inon dome port? Thanks.

  10. Hey Fltekdiver,

Liked the turtle shots the best. Couple of very nice shots. I've yet to take mine underwater. Just got the housing the other day with a flat port for the kit lens. I'm chomping at the bit but will have to wait a few months.

  11. Allen,

Regarding the Inon macro port and magnetic focusing ring one of the upsides is that you don't need to change the ring when you use a teleconverter. With other ports you need one gear for the 50 mm macro and another for the X 1.4 teleconverter and perhaps another gear when the X 2 teleconverter comes later this year. I find that I am using the AF most of the time with the 50 and the X1.4 only using manual at the very longest end of the lens. This will change I am sure with the X 2 teleconverter as depth of field is reduced further.

Regarding the 220 mm ($1500.) Athena dome, it is the best dome port I have ever used. The same dome glass wil be used in an offering from ReefPhoto in the next few months. The results with the 7 to 14 mm zoom and 8 mm fisheye have been nothing less than outstanding. This dome will be sold with mounting plates for six or eight diffrent housing brands including L & M, Sea & Sea, SeaTool, Subal, Olympus and others.

This dome will become a hot topic in these fourms when it is released for the Canon and Nikon housings I am sure. For now I think I have the first one in use in the U.S. and interest has not developed yet.

Image is the 220 mm dome with the Olympus 8 mm fisheye, Olympus E-410/PT-E03 housing for about five inches to subject.

  12. Anyone want to sell one of their OLYMPUS 50mm f/2.0 Macro ED Zuiko Digital Lens ?

I'm looking to buy the macro lens now, and start shooting some close up's

Also, they don't make a ring flash for the ikelite housing's, so i guess I'm using the DS-125's for shooting macro?

  13. ...I have not tested the E-410/PT-E03 housing with fiber optics yet but will do so soon and report back on the results.

    Phil Rudin...

    Hi Phil,

Hope you've been enjoying your diving.

Have you had a go with FO yet?

I'm ordering an E-410 + 14-42 + 40-150 this week - cash finally coming free - and I'm going back over my initial homework & research.

    Mark

  14. Hi Mark,

I use the fiber optics all the time now with the Inon Z-240 strobes and the TTL results are the best of any system I have used to date. I will be housing an Olympus E-3 soon and fiber optics is a must regarding housing selection. I also tested the Inon fiber optic cable system, http://inonamerica.com/products.php?produc...=4&subcat=1 and found it to work quite well. It is less than half the price of the Athena system but does not have a cold shoe mount on top.
