Hello, I would like to ask our members a question about Aquatica housing bulkhead.

My Aquatica housing has a large bulkhead.
I think the manual says 23.75mm (0.95inch).

Is this bulkhead compatible with M24?

Or is it a standard used exclusively by Inch Screw Aquatica?

I'm considering buying a monitor and, if compatible, I'm considering a SCUBALAMP UM5.5 monitor for the NAUTICAM M24-M16 adapter.

The conclusion is that Aquatica large bulkhead are not compatible with M24 bulkheads.

I write so that users who use Aquatica housing can search for the same information in the future.

I found something similar on the old wetpixel site and that the writer received the adapter, but it looks like drilled a hole in the bulkhead cap in the picture.

Housing manual says 0.95 inches (23.75 mm), but a compatible Aquatica monitor says 1 inch threaded hole. Maybe the Aquatica housing large bulkhead is 1 inch.

I've seen some underwater photographic equipment websites label Aquatica Large Bulkhead as M24.

I bought and try the cheapest SUPE's M24-M16 adapter.

I don't know much about screw specifications.

They are similar in size, but have different screw spacing and height.

The bulkhead of the housing I use seems to be a standard with Aquatica exclusive. I want to use an external monitor, but the only option may be an Aquatica external monitor.

I'll send an email to Aquatica to inquire about the availability of bulkhead metric adapter.

This link indicates it is an M24 "special thread" which may mean it is not the standard M24 thread , this is for an M24 bulkhead from Dive n See made for Aquatica:

https://diveandsee.com/dnc-2119-full-hdmi-uwater-bulkhead-connector-m24-for-aquatica-a7siii/?srsltid=AfmBOoqb6-w77efZerGDDu7oTbm1T6pQshyTQWMT2oCn0UcObHbBEN5D

I had a look at an M24- M16 adapter that I have from Nauticam and it appears to be an M24 x 1 thread this means the thread pitch is 1.0mm.  It could be that the Aquatica one is M24 x 2mm - a coarser thread?  They state it is a 23.75mm opening which doesn't seem to match up with the diameters of any of the M24 threads.  You can measure the threads with a thread gauge but most people won't have access to these and less they can get assistance from a machine shop.

You really need the exact specification of the thread so that it matches your housing and this doesn't appear to be listed online anywhere so asking Aquatica is a good plan.

I was looking at my buddy's GH5 Aquatica housing. It has a threaded hole and a bulkhead with an external M16 thread

Yes, some of them come with M16 holes and at least one model has M16 and 1/2"holes, the M24 one is a bit inusual though it seems.

Thanks for the advice @Chris Ross @Davide DB

As you said, my housing has a large and wide cap thread. A regular M24 adapter would tighten a little loosely, but I think I could never use it underwater because it wouldn't hold a vacuum.

I have emailed Aquatica as per your advice and am waiting for a response.

I will write a post reply again when the situation is updated.

Thanks again for your advice and help.🫡

Aquatica as well as Ikelite use inch sized bulkheads. Mostly likely because the tools for inch sizes are more available (and cheaper) in this part of the world. Certainly easier to find locally in hardware stores, e.g. taps to thread the holes.

Some of the newer housings label the bulkhead ports as M16 and this one is claimed to be a special M24 but I'm not sure exactly which thread it is the stated diameter doesn't match major or minor diameters for metric or UNC threads.

Aquatica's unique design of the "M24" connector is significantly more reliable compared to the standard M24x1 thread. This enhanced safety feature was likely introduced by Val Ranetkins, the founder of Amphibico and Aquatica, and continues to be used in Aquatica's current production line. It's a well-engineered design—undeniably a bit more complex, but very effective. I had the pleasure of being a student of Val Ranetkins during my time at Amphibico, many years ago.

I got a reply mail from Aquatica. I still need to send more mail about the purchase method or cost.

Aquatica's large bulkhead adapter exists Aquatica. There is no sales page, and I'm still waiting for an answer whether it will be sold or not. I don't know the cost either. I'm waiting for an answer mail.

I received a reply email that the Aquatica large bulkhead specification is 1 inch - 14. I also received the picture by email.

When I searched the DIVEANDSEA site a while ago, I didn't see the adapter, but it seems that there is a new sales page.

Thank you for Aquatica's customer support.

At first, I thought it was difficult to get an adapter, but with the help of many WATERPIXEL forum members, I had two choices.  Thank you very much.

The thread mentioned is an imperial thread size 1"14 TPI is ANF 1", 1"UNF it seems is 12 TPI.  So it's a finer thread than UNF.  Compared to M24 x 1 the pitch is coarser however.  The pitch is the distance between consecutive peaks on the thread, the M24 x 1 is 1mm pitch and the !"x 14 the pitch is 1.8mm.

Be interested to see what makes the Aquatica thread more reliable?

Good to see we found a solution.

Tom, you are correct, the thread size in question is a 1 inch -14.

As seen in the pictures, all our current housings us this size of thread at this location.

Older housings had a 16mm thru hole and really old housings had a 1 inch thru hole but we  provided (2) sleeves, 1/2 thru hole and 16mm thru hole, so the customer could decide.

We never had a 24mm thread on any of our housings so not sure where that information is coming from.

IF anyone has any technical questions or just general questions please email us at-orders@aquatica.ca and we will do our best to answer in a reasonable time frame.

Everyone have a great weekend😊
