Hello all,
I am a Danish, Asia-based photojournalist who's getting back into UW photography again after about a 10-15 year break.
Before that, I managed to combine my focus on people with the underwater world and was fortunate enough to do stories on the Korean Sea Women and a marine archaeology expedition in Japan to find evidence of Kublai Khan's two failed invasion attempts but mostly, I just shot pics of freediving friends.
Then, everything turned to bikini shoots for social media and I bowed out:).

But I miss being in the water with a camera. What I don't miss are the big, heavy alu housings, the big glass dome, how all of sudden, traveling light or just grabbing a camera became impossible. So I set the nerd in me a challenge - to make my own lightweight housing. (Side note, I have a CNC mill and sometimes too much time on my hands).
I basically want the lightest alu housing I can make. A slim fit around one of my older A7 bodies, controlled by USB with an external handle where the controls sit. The USB controller means I don't need room in the housing for mechanical controls and thus, can wrap it around the housing very, very tightly.
I have a handful of older Nikonos lenses that would be sweet to put on it - think the fabled "digital Nikonos V". Or a cheap 14mm Viltrox behind the smallest dome that can be made to work.

And nope, I wont be selling it, so don't worry, not here to drum up interest. Heck - let's see if I even get it made. I have a few other projects I wanna do first. But I would love to ask some pertinent questions once the project get underway - and definitely rummage the marketplace, too for bits and bobs.
