  1. Hi Eric, When I joined WP you were still in charge of operations. It's been a long time! It's good to have you back.
  2. Ciao Pietro welcome aboard!
  3. thanks for the feedback. We tried to find a compromise between file size and quality. We were waiting for feedback from users that have the original photos on their desktop. As you wrote, knowing that the final size is 1500 pixels, surely the algorithm in Lightroom or Photoshop is better than the automatic one in the forum.
  4. The new edition of the DRT Show will be held in Hong Kong from 15 to 17 December 2023. DRT SHOW (Diving and Resort Travel Expo) stands as the premier diving expo in Asia, hosting events in various cities and regions such as Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Taipei, the Philippines, Okinawa, Malaysia, Singapore, and India. To date, the DRT SHOW has successfully organized 44 exhibitions worldwide, drawing a crowd of 450,000 professionals and enthusiasts from the dive and travel industry, representing 65 countries. Regarded as the largest assembly of diving enthusiasts and marine conservationists, it serves as a hub for individuals passionate about the wonders of the underwater world. The schedule is packed with activities of interest to underwater image enthusiasts.
  5. Stunning photos. Which lens did you use? Give us a feedback on uploaded photo quality
  6. If we get the service manuals we could save them in the How-to DIY Tutorial section
  7. Wow! It would be nice if you shared something of your work in the Showcase section, if you can.
  8. Hola Atus! I'm glad you join us.
  9. Hi Davide, Welcome aboard! Finally, a large crew from the Mediterranean Sea!
  10. Wow useful tutorial, Dave! I did not understand how the Samsund ssd fits into the adapter. Where did you put the thermal paste? Thanks
  11. Then we withdraw the CSI: Waterpixels team that is working on the case
  12. If you want to take home shots of those little animals crawling on the bottom or hiding among the gorgonians, you need a tripod. Although some housings are designed to mount 1" balls to which you can attach legs, the majority of housings do not have them. All the housings have one or two camera screw holes 1/4" 20 UNIC where you can attach a tripod head. You have to make do on your own, then. Let's see how. Basically you have two options: a tripod for underwater use; from the cheapest ones made of plastic or aluminium to the most sophisticated and expensive ones. A DIY solution that is not necessarily worse than the ready-made ones on the market. On the contrary, it can be customised for one's own requirements. My Nauticam NA-GH5 housing has the mounting I mentioned above and here is how it looks with legs made from 20 cm (8") arms. The previous Nauticam housing (GH3 and GH4) had a Flexitray so I was forced to find a DIY solution. Mind you, tripods were not available on Aliexpress at the time 😉 I think the solution shown in this video is the best: Here a step by step explanation: https://www.ti-leidland.no/en/blog/46-scubadiving/136-diy-quatropod-for-underwater-housing Basically you attach 15/20 cm arms transversally to the handles and that's it. An even more stable quadripod. Here are some photos of my realisation. Some tips on use I find it very convenient to always have the tripod even when I am not diving for macro. You never know what you're going to find and having a WWL-1 that focuses almost in contact with the glass you can do close-ups of organisms by placing the camera on the bottom. However, a compromise must be found between the stability (and therefore weight) required to keep the camera stationary on the bottom and the lightness needed to shoot freehand and carry it during the dive without strain. My solution is to have the complete equipment slightly negative (weight in water not exceeding 200 grams) and only add weight when it is necessary to use the tripod on the seabed. How do you add weight? To stabilise the tripod you only need to add one kg (with a well-balanced kit even 500 grams). A diver with decent skills and proper weighing should have no problem carrying an extra kg on him. There are various solutions. A classic belt lead with a small leash/bungee and a bolt snap A detachable freediving lead A freediving lead with a screw to screw into the base of the housing or tripod This is a start. I know @bghazzal also made the tripod following the directions in the video in this post, and I await more DIY solutions from others.
  13. CiaoLorenzo, How nice that among so many photographers there is someone who does video and in the Mediterranean sea! Welcome aboard!
  14. Hi Massimo, glad you joined us. My warmest congratulations on winning the HIPA Grand Prize. We also posted the news here.
  15. Welcome on board Puccio! We missed a hard core gopro user as you!
  16. Yes my bad it was inside a Dpreview article at launch and then removed.
  17. Allow me to add a few thoughts on the forum structure. When defining the structure of the forum we also considered this hypothesis and then discarded it, at least at the start. The first reason is that for a forum starting from scratch it is better to have a simpler structure and knowing where the majority of users would come from (at least the first few days) we wanted to make them feel comfortable. A complex and detailed structure like SB only works if you have a large number of users, which a new platform does not. A user with a Panasonic or Fuji camera body would almost certainly find himself alone with his questions, whereas we would like the forum to be as inclusive as possible and for users to be enriched with information even if not directly relevant to their equipment and mode of use. Less specific sections encourage the exchange of news and the discovery of information. (Serendipity). Not least the fact that the topics often go slightly OT and so a thread on a specific Canon kit, with the addition of dozens of comments often ends up giving info that is also very useful for other brands and situations. As @bghazzal pointed out, the board we use has quite sophisticated search functions that can be enhanced through the use of specific tags/labels. In this regard, it will also be the task of us moderators to carry out periodic topic gardening campaigns, adding them where necessary. By the way, in the coming months we will be moving on to a new version of the board that will add more functionality in terms of search and user experience. However, nothing is written in stone and we will try to adapt the forum to the needs of the users. Stay tuned!
  18. Welcome on board!
  19. Glad to see you here then!
  20. Yes, major tech jump but no advantages for uw shooters and reading some review, the sensor is noisier. Moreover, digging through the lines of Sony leaflet, I found: Sync speed with "External" flash is 1/500. With base ISO of 250, its the same as 1/200 with ISO 100.
  21. Davide DB replied to Klaus's topic in Member Introductions
Hello Klaus, Delighted to have you join us!
  22. Welcome on board Fraser!
  23. Nice to have another Mediterranean guy!
