  1. Weird - I've had gate agents demand that I turn on the strobes to make certain they were strobes and not something nefarious. If I didn't keep a set of NiMh AA IN the strobes while travelling I'd have had a lot of explaining to do about a topic that is very alien to most other people. The new generation "superchargers" are small and a flat plastic pack of 8 batteries is super easy to slip into a roller bag. I wouldnt even think to dive the Retra Pro Max without 8 AA in there, especially as I can get 3-6 dives (1-2days) out of them without concerns about strobe power. One related topic I haven't noticed discussed in this thread that can significantly influence = battery maintenance. First: Keeping battery sets together in groups of 4. I cannot recall who recommended the idea, but for the past 20+ years I've always grouped and labeled my AA in sets of 4. They always stay together as a set. Next: Some chargers are not optimal. I now travel with 2x Panasonic brand 4 spot AA chargers (Panasonic BQ-CC65AKBBA). Sure, it's a bit of a pain to have to check on batteries in a camera room, but two runs of the chargers and I'm done for the day. Also, I've noticed the Panasonic brand do not overheat the rechargeables - an issue I started having with several (very expensive) Powerex Maha chargers [Ruined 3 sets of Eneloop Pro and several Energizer rechargeable C size = swollen until the labels split off!]. The USB-C type chargers also get AA a bit hotter to the touch than I'd personally like.
  2. Markus - Super curious on: 1) HOW you would get a Kenko to work with the Nikonos 13 as the lens seals to the housing. 2) WHY would you put a teleconverter on the Nikonos 13? What view/ advantages/ etc?
  3. This sounds very VERY interesting. Would love to have menu control over the controller! Do you need any folks to "test" production models? 😉 Any thoughts on anticipated cost?
  4. Pavel - Very interesting looking product! Where will one be able to see that menu displayed? Integrated in camera menu? Will it be compatible with FF DSLR Nikon?
  5. Price lowered to $1510 + insured shipping cost Willing to ship internationally at buyer's cost for any taxes/duties Wire, Zelle, or USD in person ONLY
  6. Still available - Still ready to chat about pricing Still will be used on next dive trip if not sold in time to get replacements.
  7. Direct Message sent through the Waterpixels system.
  8. Still for sale 🙂 Back from Indonesia = Komodo and Tulamben Now with additional 65hrs/ ~3000 images and continued NO issues. (Happy to provided updated App data for interested buyer) Willing to listen to offers...
  9. I found a very elegant solution from Jon Anderson https://www.jonandersonphoto.com/Blog/Teric-Ball-Mount He was able to get one made in black for me and I find it sits in a perfect position on my camera. The holder does NOT interfere with sighting (especially macro) over the top of the rig, nor does it interfere with strobe arm placement.. The holder DOES allow instant "look" at dive numbers without having to twist rig or head to line things up. This is the only bad image I have of the holder in place on the housing.
  10. $2000 - Or best reasonable offer.
  11. Offers cheerfully discussed
  12. I've got upgrade-itis and want to sell my two Retra Pro X strobes and their accompanying Superchargers and attached bumper guards. Very low use ~53 total dives. Flash count as per attached App images. ALL parts are in excellent condition, with a few signs of use, extremely well cared for, never leaked, no issues. Both strobes are updated regularly and are current with the latest firmware. ONLY trying to sell to upgrade to Retra Pro Max. The strobes and Superchargers come with all the original accessories and boxes (only one Supercharger box), ball mounts, spare o-rings, o-ring lubricant etc. [Images proving function and App screen captures indicate batteries in use in strobes - NO batteries are included with sale.] These are excellent strobes and if they don’t sell are headed with me for an upcoming trip! $2250 USD Paid via Zelle or Wire transfer ONLY. - Price includes insured 2Day shipping to a CONUS USA FedEx Office Hold location nearest you. - ANY other shipping arrangements at actual cost to the buyer - I will ship internationally, but additional shipping and insurance costs, and any import duties, taxes, etc are solely the buyer’s responsibility.
  13. I know I'm on a "boring old DSLR" (Nikon D850), but I shoot only prime lenses with one exception: Nikon 16-35 Otherwise: Nikon 105 - favorite prime for macro Sigma 15FE Nikon RS13 - favorite prime for WA
  14. From personal experience only: Yes - There is a difference between a Saga flip adapter and a Nauticam flip adapter. I experienced the same gap with Saga and found in various situations that my wet lens was not square with the lens port, and therefore sold my Saga to get a Nauticam.
  15. Thank you everyone for your input. 4 meters of cable ordered - will try a 2m cable for the remotely held snoot/strobe.
  16. I've tried snoot macro shots before with some (minimal) success and feel "aiming" the snoot is most of the battle for me. On an upcoming trip I should have the ability to do repeated macro dives with super-helpful Indonesian dive guides. I really appreciated the recent WaterPixels article about making your own fiberoptic cable. What would be suggested for the optimum length for a fiberoptic cable for the snoot strobe aimed by an "assistant"?
  17. This is exactly my reasoning for NOT making the switch to mirrorless yet. I have an Andrej converted RS13 and shoot Nikon D850. It makes no sense personally for me to go to a system that would have me lose my favorite WA lens. I was a super late adopter of D850, shooting D800 waiting for the D850 replacement than never came. The abilities of the camera far exceed my abilities as a photographer so no personal need to chase technology.
  18. Another person coming over from WP. Been diving since 1984 - First camera Olympus 2020 in 2001 - made the jump to DSLR Nikon D90, Nikon D800, now JUST jumped into a Nikon D850. Have a photo-sharing website with all underwater images @ www.rkburtonphotography.com Safe diving everyone!
