It's an interesting focus light that's adjustable in width, strobe seems to be hitting where it's pointed, just shooter's error on my part in getting it on target. Thanks for the link, good info and we'll try it again next weekend.
  3. Just got a new Marelux snoot to work with my Sony A7C, 90mm macro, and YS-D3 strobe. I'm shooting in Puget Sound, drysuit, and bulky dry gloves. I have a couple questions after today's first time out with the snoot. 1) With the battery and adjustment knob for beam width, what's the best way to store the snoot if not using? It barely fits in a Santi pocket, so I was thinking a short tether and clip it off. 2) What's the best way to aim the snoot? I had the snoot shooting center and overhead the target, but getting the beam to center where the macro focus point sets, is a challenge which took a bit of fidgeting. Any helpful hints other than practice? Any good words of wisdom for those with more experience? Shots below were first time out and I got a bit lucky with the frosted nudi as the beam was a little to the left.
  4. It will be interesting to see if it works with the WWL as well, or will it just have significant vignetting?
  5. This conversation is not making future buying choices any easier! I've been using the A7C for last year and a half, and the new FCP, although really freakin' expensive, is enticing. But the A7C R is also enticing, and also entails the new housing. Decisions, decisions. Or maybe wait till the A7C III or R II. Who knows, it's always something.

Also got back from 10-day "Best of Maldives" 4 FEB on Blue Force 3, company did a great job for the most part. I'd book with them again, no issues.
  7. I'd agree with the 7AC, but the 7AC II/ 7AC R are generally the same sensor/AF as the IV/ RV models, but a slightly smaller case. And unfortunately, they won't fit in the older A7C housing. The biggest difference may be the strobe sync speed as I don't think the A7C II/ R inherited the 1/250 speed of the A7s.
  8. Another transplant from WetPixel primarily diving Puget Sound and Seattle area of Pacific Northwest. Been shooting Sony for last 10 years and primarily dive CCR these days.
