  1. i think nauticam knows what they are doing.. if you look at the port chart... they clearly indicate the blue words and a * the 'Recommended Nauticam underwater optics based on best underwater optical performance' with the WACP2 set up. The other "blue words" set ups probably will also give you good optics but you have to remove the shade , which they shared. the black * recommended "Recommended Port System" is the 230mm port option. i think that means it will work best if you don't want to go the WACP path. its good.. but not as good as the WACP as no one has a WACP to show that there is no vig or any blurry at the edge. neither has a 40mm to show that 230mm will also not have that blurry edge. i look at all the info so far... tell me nauticam is right... 🙂 till proven not so ... show me that a 14mm sony with 30mm/40mm with 230 dome is not as good as a 16-35mm with 230mm dome. this two being the "recommended port system' not the best optics.. but recommended... i would think will be the similar... sharp in the middle.. blurry at the edge... but.. the 14mm is wider...so.... 🙂
  2. so... u are saying... if you want to use the 14mm sony with the 180mm dome. its better to use it with a 30mm port and crop rather than the recommend 20mm port.. but... it probably not worth it to do all that and just use at 16mm instead with a 180mm port or! get a 230mm dome.. and all is well...
  3. soak in some slight warm water.. another pair of hands.. and strap wrench...
  4. why would you want to do that? is it because you do not have a 20mm port?
  5. i am not sure what material u are using. but certainly PLA can be easily 'file' down. but its looks good... i am going to try to print some today!!
  6. Brinf some blutak incase it does not fit well when there ia current
  7. hm..okay.. i will try that out.. maybe i have been using it all wrong!!
  8. i want to make sure i got this right. are you saying... u are in MF... u get pretty close to focus on the subject but just not sharp... at that moment u switch to AF. the same image is there.. u half press the trigger and the camera will auto focus? that is on a A7RV? i am on a A7RIV... interesting.. i think i got to go try it out on the A7RV...
  9. i am also looking to add a 50-60 mm marco lens... from a youtube channel, much has been said that the sony 50mm is slow... and the better lens is the canon 60mm from EOS. what is your thought so far on these 3 lens?
  10. thanks for your reply... i guess its best that i can get lens and check it out.. i am still not sure if i should get the 230mm dome.. its hugh! 🙂
  11. hm... i try using the sony 14mm as a guide and see if that makes sense sony 14mm is listed as 3.26(D) x 4.11” (L) (83(D) x 104.4mm(L)) Base on the nauticam port chat, N100 t0 N120 adapter, then N120 30 extension, then the dome port in this case the 230mm dome laowa 10 mm dimention Ø3.23” x 2.97”/ Ø82 x 72.8mm. Its about 30mm shorter that the sony 14mm, maybe an N120 extension is not needed????
  12. if anyone see one in the wild... please help to ask this question ... if using the TTL, and it 'analysis' the full strobe power is needed... will it be firing GN29 or GN40?
  13. i think this pre order price will not be the final price...
  14. u guys gonna share the prints? we have a section that has all the 3d printed stuff in a thread... good stuff
  15. i asked them the same question.. they tell me .. that they are working on it... maybe we will see one... but i think you can use 3rd party ones for now.
  16. the MF2 snoot is not usable... but can be triggered by this strobe. i talked to them and they said that a new snoot for the hybrid strobe will come later part of the year.
  17. quality of these li-ion is something that they push for... i think the 21700 are a batt that is not 'abused' on quality. not like the 18650 which many take off old laptop batteries...
  18. Live... quite a beast The dial is not the final version. There will be a F and +1 and +2
  19. i am probably gonna get one of these ... hehe... i have the 37305 Nauticam N100 to N120 40mm Port Adaptor.. that i use for my 16-35 sony lens on the 180m dome. i think that should be suffice? or i need to add the 20mm extension? i might have one...
  20. Can u show the side profile of the set up?
  21. its quite cool.. like the small footprint when you taking it out into the wild!!!
  22. hey!! how about us a7riv owner! i want to get a 50mm and is keen to know how the 50mm macro work on the older cams.
  23. Hello Phil, Are you going to try this lens out? i am interested ... maybe a new thread is need if you are getting your hands on one.
