In the top right-hand corner you have two buttons: All Activity and mark site read

 

 

Many of us prefer to have an handy Unread Content button which only displays unread content instead of all activities on the site, i.e. also those already read.

How to proceed:

Click on the label All activity

Below the two buttons, now you have a bar with several filters to filter the content you see on your page.

From the Read Status filter, select Content I haven't read

You now have the option of saving this setting at the bottom left of the filter bar. Click on Save as a new stream

 

 

Save it with a name as Unread Content

 

Now save it as your default stream

 

Finally you have a new button/label in the upper right corner. That's it!

Looking in to this there does not seem to be a way to set a default stream. But I could perhaps edit the code to add it. 

I'll dig a little on it.
