Hi All,

New to this site, diving 40 years, underwater photography started as a small child snorkelling over 50 years ago (anyone remember the Agfa Guppy system using 110 cartridge film?) but my habit didn't get out of hand until about 25 years ago.

Shot stills exclusively until discovering GoPro 8 or 9 years ago, capability of equipment far exceeds talent and ambition!

Still diving a Drager rebreather (hence the handle), a really great rig for photography.

D.

Thanks Maria,

Yes, the vis can be epic alright. In late August / early September I have had 30+ metres visibility (cover boat visible from the bottom) on sites like Ling Rocks off Kinsale or Dolus Head just north of Valentia, and off the northwest coast (Donegal) the vis can be even better - think of Leigh Bishop's natural light images of wrecks like the SS Justicia and HMS Audacious.

As for pics, I'll post some when the results aren't completely embarrassing.

🙂

Thanks @humu9679 ,

Never got to dive Hawaii but it has been on my bucket list from a young age. Passed through a few years ago on my way to Truk, swam on Waikiki and paid my respects at the USS Arizona but didn’t get to dive. Hopefully next time.

I think Hawaii is underrated. There are a lot of creatures - about 25 percent are endemic. It's nice that you can dive somewhere pretty much every day.
