For users of the Nauticam wet lenses and Water Contact Optics the popular choice has been the Nikon NIKKOR Z 24-50mm f4-6.3 Lens or the old Nikon 24-85 which provides a good zoom range but is a rather slow lens in terms of aperture performance and AF speeds. Now with the release of the lens below that has a fully internal zoom I am excited to see how it will perform with these optics. Looking forward to hearing from anyone who has the option to test it out. That additional 20mm and near to macro performance could make this lens a great all rounder when paired with these wet lenses and water contact optics.

That is a very large lens for underwater use. I have never heard of anyone using the 24-70 in a housing and doubt if this one will be much different.

It is the same length as the Z105 and a tad bit lighter. I am not saying this would replace that but certainly could be a very versitle option with wet lenses more so than the 24 - 50. It would of course require a longer port than the 24-50 but I've known Canon & Sony Shooters to use these types of zoom lenses behind DP's. Just a fun thought! It is cool to see fast lenses like this that are relatively small with internal zoom.

The limiting factor for wet optics like the WWL is apparently entrance pupil size, so fast lenses often won't work well, i think someone quoted a filter size maximum as a general guide while back, have to wait and see if Nauticam test it or not. This is why a lot of the lenses on port charts are small kit lenses with relatively slow optics. Might be a possibilty with the WACP?

Oh, that is interesting. I haven't heard that before. If you can link to where that was that would be cool to read more on. Yeah, likely best use case will be for optics like the WACP / FCP.

Yes, but then you have to put a dome on it. The extension would be huge. It is a 77mm filter size which is very broad to get in a port. As mentioned, this is not ideal for wet optics.

Nauticam does list both 24-70 lens as usable with WACP and 180 domes. I agree with what is said above, not likely usable with WWL.

The 24-70 f4 with a WACP-C might be an interesting choice.

The 24-70 is surely a better lens than the 24-50 above water and might be so underwater.

This is one of the moments that I am thankful I use an M43 system.

the Lumix 12-35mm F2.8 is 68 x 74 mm.

This monster is 84 x 142 mm.

Basically, the Lumix is as long as the Nikon is wide.
