November 28, 2025Nov 28 I have been an amateur underwater photographer for a few years. I have a passion for travel and capturing my trips in the best way possible. So when I also started diving, I soon picked up a camera to capture that aspect as well. Started off with a TG5 and when I got comfortable with that, I got a Hugyfot housing for the Nikon D500 with the Tokina fisheye and 40mm macro.I moved to mirrorless for above water and I am considering making this move for underwater in the future so I don't have to bring two bodies along. However, the Tokina 10-17 is rather unique and the only real alternative to it would be the Nauticam FCP-1. I am still holding off this decision for now due to the high cost involved.
November 28, 2025Nov 28 Hello,Welcome aboard!Regarding the eternal fisheye dilemma among you photographers, you will find tons of content in the forum but I'll give you a small spoiler: teleconverter + Canon 8-15 fisheye zoom. For the details, I'll leave you to the search function.Ciao

They basically have a circular image at 8mm that I never ever touch, and then a normal wide fisheye at 15mm, that is similar to the 10mm result on the Tokina. I like the ability to zoom in on the Tokina and there is nothing on Full Frame that can do that, other than with the FCP-1 now

I love the Tokina 10-17 which I use as my go-to wide-angle lens on a Nikon D500. I've thought about a Nikon Z8 or Z6III and the Nikkor 24-50 and Nauticam WWL-C, a combination which many folks say is very good. I'd love to have the in-viewfinder review that mirrorless offers especially for snoot-shoots. But then I think of the cost: new housing, wet lens etc etc and think,... naah.

December 1, 2025Dec 1 @eikenhorst aloha and welcome. That fisheye topic is never ending. I’m sure you’ll work out how to go. Another thought: the m43 fisheyes are quite good. Great for travel, too.
December 3, 2025Dec 3 Welcome @eikenhorst Shot Hugyfot and DX for 20 years. Moved to mirrorless z6iii in a Nauticam earlier this year. The 24-50+wwl-c is a neat combo 70-130 degess of FoV. Sharp allover. A bit more rectilinear than a FE, but you get some distortion/curvature. Semi-fisheye? Edited December 3, 2025Dec 3 by Christian K spelling
