I am still working on with the Mission 1 Pro and the wet lenses GR140Pro and G165II to understand the best setting for the various situations.

In the mean time, some short clips to have a first impression on what the Mission 1 Pro can do.

Title update ti reflect the merging of various GoPro Mission1 threads!

I have also started to take pictures with the Mission 1 Pro. In this case with the GR140Pro.

I had to reduce the file size to upload it, so the quality has been a bit reduced compared with the original, but considering the distance underwater, I find the focusing pretty good.

In the next days I will see if there is any difference without the lens.

I am still learning about the M1P and Inon lenses. This is a short comparison on a wide scenery capture with the GR140 Pro.

It seems to me that the Inon lens (and I imagine its AOI cousin as well) literally sucks. IMHO unusable for wide shots. On the other hand, the GoPro without an additional lens does a great job. Did you have dive mode in the last clip too?

In these dives a URPro filter or even a Keldan gel would work miracles in post.

Interesting that the turtle searches for Cymodocea leaves among the cursed Caulerpa

This morning tested for the first time the UWL-O3 with mission 1 Pro..

Focus is now acceptable until 15cm

i don't have any infinity focus video underwater, sorry.

I make a short video to compare the close-up focusing of the Mission 1 Pro without lenses and with Inon GR140 Pro and G165II. I am not into macro so I don't have real macro lenses.

In my opinion, close-up without lenses is a no go. Both the lenses are focusing well in close-up, with the GR140 Pro having a flexibility advantage.

From this video its possible to drawn some conclusions about infinity focus

Infinity focus is out of focus even with AOI lens

Limited focus distance 15cm to 1m, maybe 2 meters (hard to tell the exact distance)

While getting closer the Barrel jellyfish, the Focus gets better, and when i stop the background behind the jellyfish is still out of focus..

basically the AOI lens behaves like the Inon.

In your video the out of focus effect is much less visible due to the bad viz while in the @BeppePADI video here it's clear thank to the better viz.

Basically the only advantage of these lens if the reduced minimum focus but the WA lenses (Inon 165 and AOI UWL-03 become useless for infinity focus).

If there is a good subject within the focus range (the jellyfish in the Nando's video) the blur/OOF effect could be nice but if your main subject is out of the focus range or you are simply panning and truck on the reef the effect is catastrophic.

Guys, your tests are valuable and interesting. Please keep posting but we try our best to keep the forum slick and clean so that our member can find easily the content they are looking for.
