Reflecting on what has gone down, I can't help feeling a bit sad for Eric.

Eric is such an intelligent, forward thinking, charismatic, honest person, who built Wetpixel from the ground up.

To have Wetpixel go down in flames the way it has is not fair to his legacy. I do not want to dwell on the negative, but feel the community should hoist a pint to Eric.

I would like to recognize his role in the whole process that has gotten Waterpixels to where it is right now.

Agreed Ian - you can now also tell him directly 🙂 :

Dear Eric:  Thank you for having conceived, launched and guided Wetpixel in its formative years.  Now countless underwater photographers enjoy it, and its successor Waterpixels, all of whom are grateful to you.   Elias, Los Angeles CA.

Just to make sure my answer to Ian above doesn't create confusion.
Eric Cheng, who created the original Wetpixel brand (but was no longer active there), has joined the new Waterpixels community (https://waterpixels.net/profile/228-eric-cheng/)
The link above is to his member introduction post, posted shortly after Ian opened this thread - serendipity? 🙂

cheers

I still have a very nice WetPixel tee shirt obtained at a trade show many years ago. Possibly designed by Eric?

Thanks Eric for setting this up and helping my journey in UW photography starting with a canon G series to an Olympus E330 and now full frame DSLR. Wetpixel has been an intrinsic part.

Eric, Wetpixel has helped so many aspiring and established underwater photographers over the years. Hopefully the Wetpixel legacy will live on here at Waterpixels.

I would not be an underwater photographer today if I hadn’t found Wetpixel back in 2006.  I started in the film era but drifted away.  Wetpixel rekindled my interest and got me into the digital era. Thanks Eric!

I had no idea wetpixel is going "down in flames" but I remember when Eric launched it. I look forward to enjoy the "new created" waterpixel.

I more or less started Optical Ocean from gauging interest on WetPixel. Everyone wanted a housing for micro-four thirds and I found a source and imported a case of them. 23 years later I'm now retired...

Eric is a legend. Really selfless and started a great community. I'm glad to see that the torch keeps passing.
