  1. Thanks @kallebumba that helps. My attachment bolts are at least 28cm apart, so 35-36cm of total length should fit. Just placed my order at paracord, took 30m, should be enough.... 😁
  2. Hi Makaron, hi Tim, You convinced me. Looking at my housing the distance between the two holes in the plates is already 28cm. I'd prefer shackles and strong colors, so I'll do one by myself. How much paracord do I need? 5-10 times the length?
  3. How about the length of the lanyards? I saw lengths between 17 an 34cm and different connectors. How do I know which one fits best if I order one?
  4. Lightroom on iPad is much cheaper and has nearly the same functionality as the desktop version. For a quarter the price. And there’s no real alternative to LR
  5. Please add to the abbreviations. Besides everything @TimG mentioned about the pro max, I REALLY like the focus light. At night snorkeling it is better than any torch. Didntā€˜t try macro yet but will do in 3-4 weeks.
  6. Ah, that’s the one next to our hotel, the Kiha Beach. AFAIK Aveyla goes with the liquid salt divers. Did you take the picture at the house reef or on one of the tours?
  7. I was refrring to my local dealer in €: null
  8. Very nice done. In three weeks I will be there the third time… where did you stay? Went with LSD?
  9. All right, you've convinced me. Now that I own a nice pair of Retra Po Max and I'm really happy with them, I'm going to defend them vigorously against any attacks.
  10. We are far away from the original topic - maybe the headline should be switched to "Retra pro & con" There's no doubt that the Retra Pro Max is one of the most expensive currently available underwater flashes. For some of us, the sum of the positive characteristics, including the company's charisma, is worth the price, for others it is far beyond the scope of sensible expenditure. I've already made the comparison with tools, how about car brands? Mercedes versus Mazda? I'll continue reading about the battle of the different positions, but I don't think there's any point in adding any more arguments. These have already been exchanged.
  11. Really like and have this one: https://www.ortlieb.com/de_de/duffle-rg+K12201 Rock solid, even longfins fit in.
  12. Looking at the price lists for all the comparable competitors I see the price hike for all strobes in the last 4 years, but the differences in current prices are not so big; they all are in the 1.500.- to 1.900.- range.
  13. I think so, yes. However, there is one caveat to the names of the craftsmen's tools: some, such as Makita, have opted for a Chinese-produced low-cost line, and there is no softer material than Chinese steel. But this is not the case with Retra. For Retra, I don't see any disadvantages compared to the new plastic lightning tools from Backscatter and Marelux. I can live with Retra's statement that with the new energy efficiency you only have to charge the battery as often as the camera battery. In my opinion, the flash recycle time is completely uncritical. And I still think that the circular flash tube will have advantages over linear tubes in the future, even if it is less efficient.
  14. Reminds me of the discussion on fine tools. It doesn't always have to be Stahlwille, Knipex Hazet or Gedore. But it helps sometimes having the best tool. I recently swapped my well-functioning Seafrogs SF-01 (cost €450) for a new Retra Pro Max. The illumination, adjustability, range of functions and light temperature are so much better that I don't regret the purchase.
  15. The rationale of the Mexican customs authorities is probably that with cameras, only what is usually sold together with a camera counts: Lens, add-on flash unit. However, underwater accessories do not count. 16% tax is therefore due on the dome, housing, flash etc. And if the customs officers wave you over to the X-ray machine or the buzzer flashes red, the money is lost.
  16. Just measured: A7 IV (N100): 26mm

NICE!! Nearly the same as mine, and you won't regret it. In contrary to Tim I think this is a setup with the lowest probability of initial frustrations... works out of the box. Sony has done an incredible work on the current AF-System, so if you miss it, it's your fault. 😁 You are not going for a Nauticam viewfinder? I don't miss it. I had one and sent it back. What kind of Flash do you use?
  18. The WACP-C is great. Not the greatest for splits, but you can use it.
  19. Coming back to the price: I bought 16 Eneloop pro via ebay + Nitecore C4 for less than 100.- But I have to admit that I already own 2 Boosters that usually come at additional 200.- each. So if i bought new I might have gone for the battery pack. (900.- vs. 500.- and nearly double the capacity).
  20. We had this discussion in the "Cheap" solutions for split shots. Some participants in the discussion feared that even small scratches in the acrylic port would be very visible, but others who use the dome have stated that this would not be the case. Otherwise, in terms of cost and transportability, the acrylic port is certainly the first choice
  21. This is an extremely funny idea that I could have come up with myself.
  22. Itā€˜s less the price but more the size that keeps me away from buying.

Iā€˜m a happy 28-60 + WACP-C User with the A7 IV Looking around at photography-workshops I still think that this is one of the best values for money. For some of us it’s too easy and too less technical. But the peace&harmony between camera, lens and WACP shifts the responsibility for bad pictures to the photographer. One step beyond? (Madness!) A7RV or A1 Macro? 90mm
  24. I didn’t see the focus gear for the 90mm Macro in the list. But in fact - you donā€˜t need it. It can help pre-focusing and support the AF or going manually.
