  1. I would be interested to see whether this surely not bad lens will improve IQ over the already really good 28-60. Of course you get even more FOV (24 vs. 28) but the liimit of 50mm would be a no-go for me. The entry pupil seems quite large what also could limit the quality. Rather be interested: Is there a native good sony lens with 28-80 or something like this?
  2. After intense debate in Wetpixel I bought the WACP-C (combined with A7 IV, 28-60 and Nauticam-housing) at PanOcean in 10/2022. Really satisfied but because of GAS and unlimited by WAF I now have the FCP-1. Therefore the WACP-C has to go. Slight wear at the lower edge but lenses without scratches or damage. Comes with the original softbox and invoice. Asking 2.200.-€ plus shipping. Preferably Germany, easy EU, all other countries much more difficult…
  3. WACP-C vs. FCP FCP Will be used in May
  4. Hi, been to Jupiter a week ago and went out with floridasharkdiver. Bad weather but surprisingly good! Nice pics! Your second shark seems to be a tiger, not a lemon? If you look for salty_soph_ on Insta you can see that they had just a hammer, too.
  5. Hi Tino, Can’t edit the other post: In fact I was using the A6400 and the reason for buying the A7 IV was using it underwater. But it turned out that for birds and all the other stuff I take pictures of the A7 IV is incredible great but still feels really small. So the A6400 is rarely used. The only reason left for using the A6400 is when maximum reach is needed (moon, bird far away) then I combine the 200-600 with the A6400. Good image quality but AF is much worse than A7 IV. For underwater use at the beginning I wanted to combine the new 16-35/4 PZ with a dome. But the members formerly known as wetpixel, especially Chris Ross mentioned that this might be not the recommended solution. So I went for the WACP-C and the 28-60 (kitlens but surprisingly good) and can‘t be more happy - as long as the FCP was not available. Just heading home from Grand Bahama…
  6. Hi Tino, in my opinion the A7IV is equally or better than A7VR with regards to AF https://mirrorlesscomparison.com/best/mirrorless-cameras-for-birds-in-flight/ I own the A7 IV but sometimes miss some additional MP. Otherwise the only step forward would be the A1
  7. If you really like to reduce size and weight and at the same time have a reliable solution with quite good image quality I‘d recommend the RX100VA. In fact there‘s no magic and FF performs better. But with respect to size and weight the small form factor of the RX100 and the Isotta housing is GREAT. Not so much for Macro and battery life is really limited but really great value for money.
  8. As a Sony-fanboy I'd say: Buy. But actually the additional benefit under water will be limited. But if you use your cam also above the Sony environment provides huge additional benefits. But in any way I doubt whether you can use any of your old gear besides the flash. The A7C is not the recommended solution. A7IV or A 7 RV do much better without adding significant volume.
  9. But remember: the great shot by Alex Mustard, the mackerel, was taken with the EMWL. Seems to have its upsides.
  10. Is it possible to have the lens attached to the tripod instead of the GoPro? That might improve stability because the lens should have more drag than the GoPro…
  11. The combo in your video was exhibited at the boot by PanOcean. As far as I remember you are correct and it is the FCP. on my pic they had just swapped it for the WACP-1 I think.
  12. Hi Davide, there were informations that for one of the both solutions a dedicated O-ring is available to keep water between GoPro-housing and wetlens. Only with that O-ring it is possible to do split shots, maybe this refers also to your problem also?
  13. Today I took a deep breath and ordered a FCP. Delivery will start end of Feb. To my great pleasure we planned two dive trips in near future, Cabo and Maledives (Dharavandhoo and Fuvamulah). So if everything goes as planned I can share first hands on at the end of May. 🫣
  14. I experienced several times that my personal item had to be put on the scale and 8kg was max. A7IV + Nauticam + WACP-C + Flash adds min to 12-15kg. Be prepared to react...
  15. Been also there - Without wide angle it is difficult to get the tigers. But they are so cute! We‘ll visit them in August this year again! Last time I had Seafrogs housing and dome with A6000+16-50. Can‘t recommend this combination. But „Big Mama“ was interested in the clicking sound of the Camera what lead to an interesting situation… 😁
  16. They were optimistic and said the sale should start end of January! @Pooley I tried but they needed it to show it elsewhere… 😐
  17. The biggest trade fair for boats, diving (and underwater photography) in Germany traditionally takes place in January every year, BOOT in Düsseldorf. I can report on Nauticam (who shared the stand with PanOcean), Seafrogs, Seacam and GoPro, but of course only individual impressions. There were 3 Nauticam employees on site. One of the three FCPs currently available outside the factory was on display, along with the WACP-1, WACP-C and WWL-1b. I was particularly taken with this comparison. Next to WWL-1b The FCP is noticeably smaller than the WACP-1, but a little bit bigger than the WACP-C. I hardly noticed the difference in weight. What is particularly striking is that the front glass is very curved. Inside you can see what Nauticam claims are highly coated lenses. The FCP comes with an interchangeable port connection (120 and 100) so that no adapters need to be used. The pictures shown at the trade fair by Alex Mustard are, as always, beautiful, and I'm looking forward to seeing the practical experiences of normal people. It was interesting to see the EMWL again in its various configurations. If you want to save yourself the relay, you either need a camera where you can turn the viewfinder image upside down or an inverting viewfinder. Unfortunately, the FCP feels so good that I'm thinking more and more about putting my WACP-C in the "classified" and switching to the FCP. Opposite is the SeaFrogs stand. In addition to the plastic enclosures from the Salted Line series, the new all-aluminium enclosures are also on display here. I may be wrong, but to me they look like a cheeky (but worse) copy of the Nauticam enclosures - and are nevertheless in the same price range. I'd rather stick with Nauticam. Seacam is probably more focussed on cold-water divers and the stand staff were not very interested in walk-in customers. Lots of large dome ports, the Seacam flashes and the familiar housings. After 5 minutes without getting attention, I moved on. The GoPro representative was amusing for me: a small stand, nothing diving-specific. They didn't make any effort. I still found AOI interesting because we also had the discussion here: The UWL-03 looks very high quality, and the bracket still required for the diving housing also makes a stable impression. However, it is also quite small in nature, so I can't imagine that spilt shots would be possible with it. On the other hand, the edge sharpness increases considerably and you can get closer to the objects - according to the stand personnel up to 8cm, whereas without water contact optics at least 50-60cm are necessary. Finally, Divevolk cases for iPhones: It's easy to imagine that the mobile phone is very safe from water ingress and can be taken diving. But I have also been told that a protective glass significantly restricts usability and that you should use a removable protective glass cover for use above water, which can be removed from the Divevolk case for use.
  18. Sorry didn’t see your post: had the UWL permanently and for me it was a real game-changer. If I hadn’t had the chance to get FF I would’ve taken nearly the same pics. DM me if you want more specific info..
  19. GASGASGAS! …maybe someone wants to buy a WACP-C? one of three currently existing FCPs (outside the factory) More to follow on a separate thread (Boot Düsseldorf)
  20. Well, the FCP looks very desirable to me too. On the other hand, the WACP-C is already quite large and heavy, and the FCP adds another 1kg to that. The ultra-wide angle (i.e. >130°) is (hopefully) not needed all that often anyway. Hopefully...
  21. Why? According to Nauticam WACPC 70-130, FCP 85-170 with 28-60
  22. Ok, the last sentence was only meant to increase the GAS.
  23. You could have a look at the "The Underwater Photography Show"-Video that's linked in the FCP-thread. Alex gives statements on the A1 and A7 RV - the RV could be the last camera to buy...
  24. That video is absolutely worth viewing in whole. Thanks!
