If someone mentions the word Action Cam for underwater use, who else would automatically think of either Go Pro or the Osmo dpi range?

This week I've been learning about Insta 360’s Ace Pro 2 and I have to say, I’ve been completely blown away by it’s specs.

Not only does it boast an incredible Leica Summarit lens to set a completely new and unrivalled benchmark for action camera image quality (a whopping 50 MP), it has an F2.6 aperture to capture more light and reduce noise plus a 2.5” flip touchscreen plus many more incredible options to get super creative with your content.

It has an elite 1/1.3” 8K sensor with 13.5 stops of dynamic range plus support for 4K 60 fps Active HDR and 8K 30 fps video.  It also has a 5 mm AI chip for further processing and powerful performance.  It promises to bring smoother, crisper 8k footage with incredible clarity , even in low light conditions, backed up by it’s renowned Flowstate Image Stabilisation and PureVideo software.

It’s precise underwater colour technology ensures vibrant, true-to-life footage. It has outstanding white balance capabilities, boasts an incredible 157 degree field-of-view and is waterproof to 12 ms/39 ft.

Leica has a long history of producing some of the best optics in the world, and I'm loving seeing the underwater images captured with this little gem of a camera.

Has anyone got one?  We’d love to see your images and hear your stories.

Thanks for sharing @Maria Munn !

I’m looking for a new action cam in combination with AOI wet lens.

Comparing GoPro 13 and DJI Osmo Action 5 pro, I decided to buy the DJI. But I recognized there is another great player - insta360 ace pro 2.

Checked many video reviews to see the color quality underwater. Both look great and much better compared to GoPro.

DJI has I very dark contrast somehow.

But which one is better, DJI or Insta360?

4K 60fps is good enough for me, which can perform both. Main difference I see right now is the 8-bit color (insta360) vs 10-bit color (DJI). 10-bit might be better for editing?

What do you think, which one is the best action cam for diving on the market?

You are welcome @MrPhilipps

I absolutely love AOI's wet lens. The sharpness when I used it with my Go Pro Hero 12 last year in Raja was amazing!

You are right to check the reviews, there are quite a few but all point to the Insta 360 Ace Pro 2 producing better colours due to it's Leica lens, AI chip and ability to use Vivid plus it's own PureVision software.

I've been out playing with the previous Insta 360 Ace Pro and it definitely handles sunbursts much better than my Go Pro does and the colours are more vibrant. It also captured the jellyfish with far more detail giving me a really pleasing image. I also loved the ability to use the Clarity Zoom to get great quality close-up footage makes it a great winner. Just bear in mind that file sizes are huge compared to Go Pro!

Matthias Lebo uploaded a great video yesterday to his You Tube channel to demonstrate how good it is. Have you seen it?

If it's true that you can now attach AOI's lens to it, that's the winner for sure. It all depends on your end goals.

I'm attaching some images taken the past couple of days with it. I loved the richer greens it produces for my split-level shots here in the UK, plus the richer blue sky. The video was lush in colour too.

Hope this helps and good luck with the decision making.

Well, comparison to GoPro, no question. But what about DJI osmo action 5 pro vs insta360 act pro 2?

Yes I saw the video from Mathias Lebo. He says that the 8-bit color of insta360 is a minus in the rating.

There's so many possibilities, it all depends on the results that you like. The DJI Osmo Action 5 has cooler colours and the Insta 360 Ace Pro 2 performs better in lower light conditions and gives a broader colour range.

It's a tough one to call, they're all good in their own way.

Good luck with the decision making.
