Thank you for the link!

It was an excellent summary, but if I may, I’d like to add a little extra spice.

Thanks to the new optical control system, both the SONY and Olympus TTL RC modes now offer extremely accurate TTL performance.

A few weeks ago, I tested the Sony TTL mode in real-world conditions using Nikon Z8 and Sony A7 IV cameras with our own triggers.

The results were outstanding.

So I can confidently say that a truly exceptional strobe has been created. :)

Additionally, the results of our TTL-side testing approach are available on our website for those interested.

Looks good to me. Color temp is maybe a bit cold... 👍

Just out of curiosity, I checked the price: very well priced in Europe (899 Euro) vs. almost twice in US (1699$):

AOI UIS-P1 Ultra InTeLi Strobe

This compact innovative new underwater strobe from AOI features a ring flash tube, COB light and supports both Sony TTL and OM System RC and manual exposure.

..

=> US customers probably better wait, I have the impression that the tax regulations are changing daily (hopefully tax will return to normal soon)...

Cheap flights to Europe for 500-600 and still profit when buying 2.

Well all the AOI strobes have mostly doubled in the last few weeks.

I would wait and see a bit. I have their smaller strobes and am very happy,

I also have the smaller ones and they will be with in the Philippines from Monday and will be great to see how they perform

Hi everyone,
Just bringing this thread back to ask if anyone has had the chance to try this strobe in person. I'm in the process of choosing a new pair of strobes and I'm torn between these and the Backscatter HF-1. The AOI UIS strobes are really appealing to me, but I haven’t found much first-hand feedback from actual users yet.
Has anyone had the chance to get their hands on them??

Alex Mustard has tried many strobes recently and seems he likes the light quality from circular tube strobes but also uses the HF-1. Seems he has tried a number of the Chinese manufactured strobes and lumps them together, but doesn't specifically mention the AOI. This post I thought was quite informative I thought. He clearly likes the Retras. You don't state your setup and whether you really need the power of the HF-1. In Alex's video review of the PRO Max he mentions one problem with very powerful strobes is turning them down enough and the Pro Max has more turndown as I recall.

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to try them yet, but I will be using them a lot in September on my next trip to PNG.

A dear friend tried them out with a Sony A1 two weeks ago in the Red Sea and was very pleased with them. He was also very impressed with the TTL, which seems to work very well with the AOI trigger. In terms of power, he says it's like an HF-1 but with a circular lamp.

Thank you all for your responses! I had already read Andrew’s review, as well as his talk about the strobe with Alex Mustard on his show, very informative for sure. However, I was looking for comments from people who have actually bought them and spend some time with them in the water.

I’m planning to buy my first pair of strobes, and these fit my budget. I’m already shooting with an AOI housing for my OM-1, so I think it could be a good combination overall. Compared to the HF-1, here in Spain the price difference at my trusted retailer is around 300–350 EUR for the pair.

So basically, they fit my budget, the info provided by Andrew matches what I’m looking for, and I’ve had good experiences with AOI products. I was just hoping to hear from people who actually own them, to help finalize my decision, since I haven’t met any users or dive buddies who have had their hands on them.
