May be RETRA offers Pro Max users update on excisting flash for reasonable price. New flash Max II looks mechanically quiet similar so may be there is only exchange of electronic & reflector neces

I made 2 more dives

What me impressed is the fast recharge and the small use of the batterie.

Another point is that the battery compartment is easier to close. The joints can no longer get stuck. With the Booster there are no 2 additional o-ring like with the Retra Pro.

Changing batteries that were seriously starting to annoy me is much simpler and faster.

I really appreciate this change

I think it would be wise for Retra to sell the retra only with booster but to give the 2 closing parts for use with 4 or 8 batteries.

But personally I don't really see the point of diving only with 4. Unless, of course, for one reason or another, we run out of batteries

A small negativ point, really small. Before with the light giving the mode of the strobe it's vissible if you forgot to turn the strobe off. With the new one you see nothing...
I dived on Thursday and I just saw that I completely drained the batteries because I didn't turn off the flashes.

It's my mistake.. ok but a small (or long) beep or such an alert can be good after 2 hours without turning the strobe off.

For my local diving I usually do a single 70-80 minute dive. On macro I can get 3 of these dives in with capacity to spare. I'm diving with the Retra Pure which suits my m43 system quite well. When I travel I'll probably use the boosters. As Alex pointed out it keeps the strobes compact to get them in close to the port.

I agree the battery change is super easy and light quality an excellent step up from my Z240s.

The new booster are really small in comparaison of the old one.. no reason for me to dive without it.

The ease of fitting the new Booster and the size was one of the prime reasons I switched from the older Retra Pro to the newer model. Handling the Retra with the Booster - rather than the Superchargers - is a major improvement. As you rightly say, why wouldn’t you dive without the Booster!?
