A trio of Humpback Whale (Megaptera novaeangliae) escorted by Bottlenose Dolphin (Tursiops truncatus) and California Sea Lion (Zalophus californianus) as they hunt and feed in Magdalena Bay, Baja Pacific, Mexico.

Seeing whales underwater for the first time was definitely the highlight of a snorkeling trip to Magdalena Bay with Nautilus Liveaboards.

Magdalena Bay really paid off. We splashed on several mother/baby pairs like this a few times over the week.

Running the customs scam gauntlet was a risk but worth the journey.

Lucky mate. We did 5 full days snorkeling at Magdalena end of October/beginning November landbased from Puerto san Carlos due to short notice cancellation of our liveaboard (18h previously departure, very bad experience) based at San Jose los Cabos.

We didn't have close encounters with the whales . Just one calv during snorkeling, but a little bit far. Anyway Magdalena was amazing.

Close enough for an awesome photo!

And a little white balancing will greatly improve that image! I know all my whales needed WB work even though I was 1-2 meters away from some of them as they tried to run me over!
