February 2Feb 2 This may be the dumbest question ever. When I shoot verticals to have my shutter triggering arm up my arm hits my regulator hose. How does one avoid that?
February 2Feb 2 Turn it the other way? If it's really annoying you might need to change hoses (longer or shorter) or add a swivel?I shoot verticals in both the trigger up and trigger down positions and don't really think this is an issue for me, but now I'm going to pay more attention tomorrow 🤣
February 2Feb 2 I’m intrigued by this. It’s an issue I’ve never noticed- although, I do occasionally find I have to tilt my head slightly to avoid blowing bubbles where they can be unhelpful. Annoying indeed. Assuming you're right handed, Jeanie, is your reg coming over your right shoulder? Kristin’s idea of adding a swivel is a neat one. And by my experience, there is no such thing as a dumb question. I’ve heard some dumb answers though…..
February 2Feb 2 Author Yes my hose is coming over my right shoulder. My arm hit the hose knocking my reg. I dont mind putting my left hand higher but when i need to get low my shutter trigger hand is now on the bottom interfering. I'm trying to find out how a swivel would work and I don't think a longer hose would make a difference as it's my arm hitting the hose when I raise it. Headed to Bon Air in 2 weeks so I'm going to play around with technique I don't know if I need to take my arm and come up above the regulator hose
February 2Feb 2 Hmmmmm…….. any chance you could post a pic of you holding the camera in the housing in your usual vertical framing position? Doesn’t need to be underwater. I’m trying to figure out why the angles are a problem.
February 3Feb 3 After maybe thousand of photography-dives, I've never had this problem, and I'm trying to picture it in my mind. As Tim already wrote, a photo of your posture would probably be helpful. After reading your post here, we'll probably all have the same problem on our next dive—we just haven't noticed it yet! 😂

February 3Feb 3 yes, a photo please because I couldn't create the problem today and can't figure out why or how it's happening!
February 3Feb 3 I’m also baffled, as I shoot verticals all the time and have not noticed this issue. Could it be that your secondary hose is too long and stiff, thus creating a bigger loop over your shoulder than necessary? Maybe try a shorter Miflex hose, they are super flexible. That plus a swivel would be a relatively cheap experiment.
February 8Feb 8 Author Going diving in 10 days and will see if i can analyze. The hose is stiff. Will provide more feedback as I troubleshoot the issue.
