Goldspot Goby?

Featured Replies

Is this a Goldspot Goby? Photographed in about three meters of water off Coco View Resort in Roatan, Honduras. Thanks!

Thanks @pdxDiver - the only reason that I thought it might be the Goldspot Goby was the vertical bar through the eye which the Goldspot has and the Patch-reef doesn't seem to have. Any thoughts on that? Thanks for your help.

Hey @SwiftFF5 ,
I've been working on software that helps with fish identification among other things for divers on a trip. You can find it here https://critterdive.com
It's currently in preview. PM if you want an invite.

This site might be helpful.

The only specie I see with a vertical bar through the eye in the "this species" or "similar species" links for either of these is the goldspot. Your picture doesn't show the spot near the gill cover but there are some pictures in the "this species" link for the goldspot that don't show it either.

@rwe I have mostly been using Mickey Charteris' book, and that was my conclusion as well. This was a fairly small one, so perhaps it hasn't developed the spot yet. Thanks for the help, I appreciate it.
