I have always loved my Sigma 17-70 paired with a dome and the Canon 7Dmkii (and 20D, 40D before that!) I know a lot don't think it's wide enough, but it was great for going on a leisurely, "who knows what I'll see or what I'll be in the mood to shoot today" diving.

I don't know how it will work with the newer cameras so wondering what you all like to shoot when you want to "have it all" on a dive? Please let me know what you think are good contenders and if you can share an example of its diversity, that would be double helpful!

It does depend on the body you chose. For FF and zoom (and not Fisheye). The Canon 15-30 works very well behind a dome (180 and 230). I also use the 14-35 and think it is a great lens, but I do not find that it outperforms the 15-30 underwater. The 14-35 is happier in the edges at 16 and greater mm settings. The 15-30 is more cost effective with no downsides behind a dome. Above water I much prefer the 14-35.

So my setup is either the 15-30 or the 8-15mm fisheye taped to 15mm.

Some great options for wet optics, but I don't use them (yet). If going crop (R7) - then there are some other great options but I don't have experience with them.

10-17 Tokina, just get close and creative for the small stuff.

For aps-c, a tokina 10-17 still rules wa zooming inmo, if you can find one.

Totally agree. Horrible topside but underwater, superb! Add a 1.4TC and even more flexibility.

i have had the Tokina 11-17 forever, love it, but honestly had kind of forgotten about it, thanks!
