First Ever UW Images

Featured Replies

Okay, so I guess the first would’ve actually been with an underwater disposable snorkeling as a kid. Be that as it may, this is the output of my one and only dive with a real camera.

I borrowed my brother’s TG-6 setup on a dive at Breakwater in Monterey.

I’m a total beginner here, and these images are nothing too special but I’d love some feedback on composition, lighting, anything you got.

Thanks in advance, photo fam!

Congrats! And welcome to the rabbit hole! I fell in a year ago and am loving it!

Really nice shoots and welcome. Hope to see more of your photos in the future.

Good stuff @ericstrege ! You got light on your subjects. The black and white works.

Thanks! Not too shabby for a first outing.

Thanks, Jurgen that’s very kind. Appreciate your comment!

@ericstrege You can get a lot out of the TG series so I wouldn't be in a huge hurry to move to a different camera. I wish that OM Systems would update the thing but it's a winning formula for them so far.

The TG6 is a good place to start. It looks liek you've made some photos before bringing your camera into the sea. The compositions work well and you seems to be controlling the highlights well. Congrats with a good start.

So true, once you get the bug - be prepared to start chasing the rabbit down the hole with everything out there to choose from for shooting in different environments.

At this point when I do my checkout dive at the start of each trip without my camera rig, It feels weird...lol

Appreciate the comment! Yeah that’s how I feel topside too. Without a camera something is just off haha
