Does anyone recognize this fish from Sogod Bay? I have the focal distance recorded as 0.2m on the Oly 60mm macro, so it must be fairly little. The shape looks a bit like a triplefin, but the shape dorsal fin isn't very clear to me. Alas, I don't have a picture from the side.

With its large eyes and pointed beak, I agree, a triplefin . Not sure which species though.

Perhaps Enneapterygius niue, the Redbar Triplefin? Fishbase suggests it might be out of its known range... but it is a relatively new and data deficient species.. see its Fishbase page

It could be. Hard to know how much color variation there is, but the Fishbase photo looks like more contrast between the light and dark bars.
