ridgebackpilot
Heads up, Z8 shooters! Apparently Nikon has just released firmware 2.0 for the camera, and it's a major upgrade packed with a number of brand-new features that go well beyond those of the Z9. Among the major new features is dedicated "Bird Detect", which presumably will work with fish? As you know, @MatthewSullivan and @Alex_Mustard have featured Z8 content on their new Underwater Photography Show. Perhaps they'll make a new video exploring the new features contained in firmware 2.0 and which of them are especially relevant to underwater photographers. In the meantime, here are a couple of videos exploring the hot-off-the-presses features in the new firmware update: Edited February 7 by ridgebackpilot
Dave_Hicks
Very cool! Just downloaded and installed. Now I have more manuals to read!
ChrisH
I really like the fact that Nikon keeps updating their cameras in such a way for free! The new firmware introduces the bird detection AF, as well as a new shift mode (up to 180MP) and Auto-Capture features as well as some new options/customization features. Nikon also claims to have improved AF-Performance. And very important for underwater photographers: we get new shutter sound options 😆
TimG
Yep, Nikon have been great for that ever since they introduced digital cameras.
