  1. @Luko With a torchlight it is easy to visualize the result... and it is easy to achieve the goal: have a small spot It works also good with the LED in the center of the Retra strobes... but a flash from the circular light is not as easier. 1) the need of a longer tube is necessary 2) a lens /fresnel or a concentrator as you name it is important to concentrate the light 3) with a lens with circular or only a LED you will have good "picture" of the light sources when you are at the focal length... that is the main problem. With a circular flash light you will have a bright disk with the dark center. I made several test "Difussor" with frosted glas or such glasses I made folowing construct Light/strobe -> Diffussor --> 1 or more lenses with different focal --> tube with special internal shape to avoid the parasite reflexion --> and why not a lens for a last light concentration It is not easy to make a compact solution I still exploring in different direction. Target: Light, easy to (re)build, compact and not expensive. In the tube a try with good results this shape important printed with a black mat filament to avoid a maximum of the reflexion and have a nice boundery beetween the black and white zone on the picture.
  2. hi @Luko I ask moderation to move the posts in a new topic. the 2 pictures from my post are only to show the black "hole" with the circular flash. The parasite light etc.. are not important and are only coming from the maner I tooked the photos. (quick & dirty :( ) For the rest I agree But I wait the new topic to continue the discussion.
  3. Only a little contradictory then I didn't publish on 3D printing sites. For me puting a copy of original part on such sites is not ok.. I'll never do that. Some person also try to make money with that. We have not the same vision of the DIY... I stop here... I've need to go to work, ;)
  4. I'm not sure Retra appreciate that you make a copy of what Retra make. Retra give really good support (see an other recent topic) for that Retra need to earn money...also with such part. Again if you make and publish some new parts no "copy of" I found that ok sharing this also OK I have a retra snoot and i'm trying to make a new one not a copy but my version with some improvement (if it possible, not sure ;) ) We definitivly don't have the same vision of the DIY philosophie. For me printing a part with a 3D printer is not DIY. DIY is make the 3D model and print it. Have a nice day Hugues
  5. no the base (in black) is the same it restrict the beam and it help when the water is no so clear when you have a wideangle. It is not sheap I agree but this parts are realy helpfull.
  6. OK I understand this point but make the same as Retra... I find that is not so good for Retra. They need some incomes and publishing such stuff for free is for me not how I see the thing. Make some new creation of something Retra didn't have is ok. It is my opinion.. sorry . I publish some post with what I build to give idea to other... and if someone ask for the SSTL no problem.
  7. It is exactly what do the original Retra reflector, and he give more power
  8. Hi david, I have suche bumper since 2 years minimum. Publish some pictures and says if you want... ask..
  9. More than a diffusor that you need but rather a fresnel lens of something equivalent, the problem without any converging lens is that all the power will be lost. (That's what happens with the crappy Scubalamp snoot which is only equiped with a diffusor device, used it on one trip, never again, back to Retra snoot now) .This is why the Retra snoot is for me the most efficient one : you see for instance there is a sweet spot according to the distance you aim at your subject, the "halo" of the snoot will get sharper whenever you're on the ideal distance. Diffusor or fresnel lens it is more or less the same... I'm using a fresnel on my other snoot. Hi @Luko I made a test to explain the donut No lens no difusor only a small output
  10. Sali Bay Resort is absolutly ok .. The team the location the boats the service ... the pool (ok I was only one time in it...and after 5 min max it was raining...) restaurant very good It was low season for me 4 or 5 customer (inc my wife and me) at the end we was 3 Lisa the manager say us it was a bad year... a lot rain. We wasn't lucky it can happen with the weather. @Architeuthis feel free to MP in german if you want more information.
  11. Thank you for giving us feedback...
  12. I ordered the MFO3 last sunday... it was impossible to resist longer... first dives in the Philippines next month.
  13. Seriously I like your pictures. very bright.. What are you using for a setup?
  14. Like I allways do... (If you have good reduction thanks for the methode 🤣)
  15. I allways dive with a short with big pockets.
  16. I mark allways my batterie 4 together and used always this 4 together and charge it together. It is very usefull when you have some problems and you are not sure it is the batterie problem or not..
  17. I hope you are wrong .... that will mean you'll solve the problem with some news AA
  18. Wouh... it happend to me to put one AA wrong.. but nothing happend no test flash nothing
  19. Same for me older Eneloop can bring mistake.. firing / not firing... buy normal AA bat to test.. or ask other divers if they have some AA
  20. More than a diffusor that you need but rather a fresnel lens of something equivalent, the problem without any converging lens is that all the power will be lost. Diffusor or fresnel lens it is more or less the same... I'm using a fresnel on my other snoot. I also use as first step and one or more lens to focus the light on one point, small disk I had some problerm with water comming in.. need to build a new one with some changes... but no time at the moment to many work. The last "snoot" is for me a simple and light snoot that cost nothing other as a little bit time to print I will try it during the next trip. (I'll also use the retra I bought from you ;) )
  21. the model I made and printed for testing is this one Th e idea is putting some reduction in the tube and why not some extension with lens in it. BUT there is a BUT with a lens when the distance is the focus length the light is like a donut because the tube of the retra a circular. I need to but a diffusor on the retra side...
  22. That's a picture from @Hiloboy and the model and here the protection on my old retra pro You see it's realy wide the beam is not restricted
  23. If you can share the 3D files that would be amazing! I have this part It is a protection and with this I can put the Retra on a table without that the glas is touching. It's also large that's mean I can make wide angle without losing light on the side. @Hiloboy ask me for a simple "snoot" I build one without testing it. I'm right know make some test with an adaptation of this one..
  24. Yes and it is good to read somme other point of view.. I like the point with the snoot
