Here's the the note from Sam Glenn-Smith aka @sammyglenn_dives on Instagram: <<<Hey Criag!! Thanks for reaching out. No idea what's going on but 3 or 4 of my really old images have popped up on pages and seem to be double the social media rounds. These images are all double exposure images (which I'm really annoyed by the fact that these pages are posting them without sharing the original captions I put with them to say they were double exposure. Heaps of people online calling out my shots saying it's AI when I took them before AI was even a thing!!) Anyway - all the blue ring split shots are double exposure taken with an Olympus OMD EM1 MK2 with 12-40mm Lens. The blue ring shots are with a macro port and single Strobe with Snoot, whereas the splits are with a dome and ambient light. Hope this clears it up and more than happy for you to share this on the forum!>>>

Welcome to Waterpixels @Pebbleworm

I have the Sony 90mm macro and the CMC-1. But I've never used them together. I got the CMC-1 for use with the full frame 28-60mm, which works okay, but working distance can be difficult. Mostly, I am an obedient student, and follow the port charts.

These days it can be very hard to discern the sourcing of images, though I know manufacturers and even the Associated Press are trying to figure out ways to mark photos as genuine. I sent a message to @sammyglenn_dives to get to the source. He has a lot of blue ring octopus photos on his Instagram site, most of the single creature variety.

@dhaas David Haas usually has access to a bunch of these.

I figured it would be a Waterpixels shooter who would be first in the water with this. That advert @Davide DB makes me cry.

Nauticam N85 housing & ports options for Sony APS-C
humu9679 replied to Craine's topic in Photography Gear and Technique
@Craine@Lewis88 Thanks folks. I've always wondered about making the Nauticam work with the A6xxx series since SeaFrogs could do it. The bulkhead charging is genius. -
Nauticam N85 housing & ports options for Sony APS-C
humu9679 replied to Craine's topic in Photography Gear and Technique
@Lewis88 "I added Nauticam's M16 USB-C bulkhead, so I can charge my camera with everything assembled and vacuum pulled instead of disassembling to change batteries." @Craine The zed batteries have been a game changer for the A6xxx series. I have an A6600 but unhoused. I also have an old Nauticam housing for the A6000 - any idea if I can fit a newer A6 body in there? -
@PeterN Looks great. Thanks!

Nauticam N85 housing & ports options for Sony APS-C
humu9679 replied to Craine's topic in Photography Gear and Technique
@Craine I think the form factor and specs of the A6700 are really good, especially video. I would go that route if I didn't already have the A7c, housed in Nauticam. I'm sure you'll like Nauticam much better than Sea Frogs, which is really worth it for serious photo- video- graphers. I also like smaller APS-c lenses, which are great for carrying around topside. The Nauticam port chart for APS-c Sonys isn't complete, I agree. -
Another consideration, at least for me, is battery life. The TG wins here. I always liked the S and G Canons, and the Sony RXs, but their battery life sucks. Also, if you’re shooting ambient light and on-camera strobe only for macro, you might want a camera that is easier to white balance at depth. I think the TG wins here, too. Ultimately I would love a compact with a 1” sensor or bigger, manual controls, hot shoe, very close focusing and sharp optics - great tracking autofocus - 4k 60p video that shoots log with good control of rolling shutter. You know, the perfect camera. I’ve always loved compact cameras but they all have caveats. The best camera is the one you’ll carry and use. To get better images, though, your kit will get bigger and bigger.

Subsee and Sony 90mm
humu9679 replied to waterpixel's topic in Shooting Technique, Workflow and Editing
@Giancarlo M. Wonderful photos. Thanks. -
I've taken some stills from video, and if the lighting is good, it looks passable. Generally I try not to do that. On my Hero 7 black, I have it set to video by default. To shoot still JPEG photos at intervals between 0.5 to 5 seconds: Swipe left > TIME LAPSE > ICON (lower left) > scroll down to Time Lapse Photo > Command Bar > set intervals (0.5 to 5 seconds). Hope this helps.
