Pacific Fleet just shared that the Mexican government has increased the park fees for Revillagigedo/Socorro Islands, effective on January 1, 2025.

The new fees will be MXN$ 3.622 per person, per day, roughly USD$180 per person, per day.

The prior fees were MXN$ 1.811 per person, per day, roughly USD$ 90 per person, per day.

Whaaat?!!! Mexicans really don't like divers to visit! First they scam them at the airport and now this? So 5 days safari instead of $450 is now $900 extra? WOW!

IIRC Ecuador also doubled their Galápagos National Park Entrance fee on in August 2024 ($100 to $200 USD) might have been an inspiration....

But on a daily levy like the Revillagigedo NP's, this really stings...

Thats one way to "protect" the national park, make it too expensive to visit.

Socorro is nice, but not worth 180USD per day in park fees on top of liveaboard. Even the old 90USD per day was on the steep side.

Thank you Mexico, trips were fun but no more camera taxes and ridiculous park fees.
