Who has tried a Seafrogs aluminum housing?

Featured Replies

Just wondering if anyone has actually taken the plunge (no pun intended) and actually bought one of the Seafrogs all aluminum housings yet? They are marketing them quite hard online, but there is very little about them on social media or even youtube. I cannot help but think it is all paid advertisement for them, but no real life reviews of one of these cases. I cant help but think they may not be the best option for a primary setup, but might be something to upgrade my secondary setup into (tat will probably see water once a year or so). Even with that I would be hesitant without hearing some real life experience with one, I just don't feel like being the Guinea pig! Cheers

Hi @Underwater with Art

Thanks for posting!

I thought there was a similar post by someone else on this same topic a while ago.

I know of other underwater photographers who use SeaFrogs housings who have never had a problem. I used one for a while with my Olympus TG6.

It all depends what you are looking to use it for, is it for snorkelling, diving, which model camera do you have?

Always happy to help if I can.

Have a great afternoon!

Thanks Maria. I am actually looking at the new all aluminum housing now and have not found much online here about them, only the Polycarbonate version. I did watch a YouTube video review and unboxing and that version did not look too bad.

The plan would be to use it for diving mostly. Depths to recreational and possibly beyond depending on the subject.

If you happen to have any experience with one or can point me towards someone who does, it would be much appreciated.

Cheers

If the aluminum housing has the same buttons and controls as the polycarbonate they would be a pass.

Their new monitor is appealing though.

Do you mind elaborating. I’m not familiar with what’s been learned about their buttons and controls.

The polycarbonate housings have very poorly made controls. Flexible plastic that don't functional well.
