  1. That PowerShot is now much bigger than an action camera and then you add a wet wide lens almost the same size. This is really where the phone comes in these days.
  2. Yes giant Pacific octopus. Although rare to see outside of their dens I would not like being stuck unable to capture them when it happens. I can get very close to the nudibranches so working distance is less of a factor there. Most locals are shooting 50-90mm FF equivalent from what I've seen. The 45mm+mfo and mild diopter combination seems like it might work well? Conversely the 30 and one of the macro wide lenses would give me a fisheye option. I currently have the 65 port, 29 port and I just found a used 45 port so I have options. Most of what I shoot is for social media so cropping isn't the end of the world either.
  3. Phone in a case is as close as you'll get.
  4. Nudibranche longer than 2cm up to octopus. I'm currently using the 12-50 kit lens and use almost the full range often with a UCL-165 but not the built in "macro" mode. Unsure what I'll gain over than combo though.
  5. I'm currently debating my first M43 macro option. It seems like the 60mm will be too long for the local conditions (Vancouver Island BC) unless paired with the MFO-3, a significant cost. I do already have the port for the 60mm though. I'm considering the 30mm Panasonic to start. I'd need a port however.
  6. Washington state and Victoria Canada depending on the week.
  7. Either will work. Perhaps someone has one they can spare.
  8. Welcome from another Victoria based diver!
  9. In my experience the internal touch points start perishing before the buttons have problems. But that is based on buying used housings.
  10. You can get a green light sucking by mouth in a pinch 😅
  11. I'd rather see images which are imperfect and REAL over anything which has been "improved" by AI. I have even less patience for generative AI and the theft it requires. I absolutely hate that I have to distrust everything I see on a screen now.
  12. There is an EM1-II for $1000 in the classifieds that would offer you a massive opportunity for less than the cost of a dome.
  13. Okay thanks, was worried I was missing something. The MFO-3 or MWL-1 on the 45mm would be an interesting experiment.
  14. Pardon my ignorance but doesn't a diopter just shorten focal length and so not really offer anything for a lens which can focus on the glass anyway?
  15. It's interesting bit eye watering expensive for a fairly simple peripheral. I've been toying with using a left handed gaming keyboard which are available used fairly often.
  16. I'm shopping for my first macro and sitting between the 45mm Panasonic or 60mm Olympus. I already have the port for the Olympus but it seems like a lot of lens for what I do. I'd likely get the MFO-3 to go with either one.
  17. Yes I'm curious to see an image taken with the 8-15 on a MFT, unless one has been posted and I've just missed it?
  18. I'm rather interested in the 8-15 on my EM1-II, despite having a WWL-1. Does anyone have an example image of it without the speedbooster and with?
  19. I have the special port and zoom gear plus 12-50 lens, it really is a generalist. I mostly use it I'm the macro port with a diopter however. I haven't tried it behind a dome. However I'd be looking at the 60mm macro and MFO-3 for everything except wide angle. The WWL-1 works really well with the 12-50 other than needing a little zoom in plus it's a heavy lens. If you have the 30mm macro then the Weefine/Kraken KRL-09S is a lighter wide angle option.
  20. Bumping this up a little since I'm looking for a 45 degree viewfinder for an EM1-ii, how significant do you think trying to find the newer MIL version is vs the original DSLR?
  21. I do tend to have the ISO up a bit otherwise I get a lot of backscatter with the strobes up high due to how much particulate we've got.
  22. I have a Hydra WSR 1500, it's okay but the anodizing is very poor. I haven't been able to get it to turn off with the strobe either (it's supposed to).
  23. How did you seal the PETG? I am experimenting with ABS sealed using Dichtol for floats at the moment.
  24. I'm in the market for a n85 16mm, I'm curious about material too.
