Canon FF lens lens lenses..
I understand your enthusiasm but we have a specific thread for this lens. Could we just use that? ðĪŠ

Canon RF16mm F2.8 STM who owns it? Who shoots it underwater?
Yes but * indicates the best quality option and probably the behemoth 230 mm is.

Keldan flood (my mistake) - and now what can we do for the battery?
I'm sorry to hear what happened ð Did you try to write directly to Keldan? Keldan batteries have a proprietary circuit showing runtime and time to full charge, so it depends if the circuit is still working. Time ago a got battery replaced here in Italy but the circuit was ok.

Kraken 5.5 "ultra bright"u/w monitor
I wrote Kraken and Weefine about their 7" monitors. No replies from them ðķ I don't understand why all these new monitors (also SUPE) are depth rated to 80m. Once it was 100m. This breaks the deal for me. Another strange spec is their weight underwater: Kraken writes 2140g on land/560g underwater for both models 5.5" and 7". Very strange indeed and it's a lot. Anyway their lights are good.

INON UFL-G140 removal/reduction of a scratch
Of course Dave, that's why I wrote that "it depends on the scratch." Sometimes it goes away completely, sometimes it is visible to the naked eye but the polishing operation rounds the edges and in water it is no longer visible. Other times you have to throw it away but in my experience I always happened to be in the first two cases with very good results. That's why I would have tried before changing it. Now maybe we could help him understand how to replace the dome. I have no idea.

INON UFL-G140 removal/reduction of a scratch
It depends on how the scratches are deep but believe me, polishing a polycarbonate dome is really easy. Just try once it come back.

INON UFL-G140 removal/reduction of a scratch
One year ago I sent a RGBlue light in Japan for repair. Shipping and custom duties were really expensive. Try to contact FMfotovideo in Italy and ask them to quote the dome swapping. Second option: try for yourself with a scratch remover as Novus or similar. I repaired my polycarbonate domes several times with perfect results.

Canon R5 Mark II Megathread
Looking forward to see the full review. In 2024 Canon didn't implement a one button MWB. AFC seems to work with animals (otters) They didn't show the housing. Are R5 and R5 MKII bodies the same? (I don't think so). So, as usual, Nauticam got a body from Canon in advance and the housing is still a secret ð

GoPro 13
In an endless race it seems that the release date was chosen to try to dampen the enthusiasm for the release of the new DJI action camera. We will see if I am proven wrong by the new releases but I believe that in some ways we have now reached a technical limit in these cameras and without a radical change in design, we will only have incremental improvements but nothing revolutionary. Insta has gone to the 1" sensor with 8K and this seems to be a physical limitation for a fixed focus camera. Already the Insta is borderline: users have noticed that at the arm lenght distance (classic v-log) the camera is slightly out of focus and the solution is to apply a diopter. Perhaps this is why DJI and Gopro have not moved to 1" already. They should change the lens design. If we think about it, today any high-end phone has a photo section that is light years ahead of any action camera but also ahead of many mirrorless cameras (fortunately for many brands, Samsung years ago decided to get out of the photo market, considered too niche by the Korean giant). It is normal to have phones with multiple 1" lenses and PDAF l, tracking etc. All mid- to high-end phones make use of computational photography. This is another area where there will be big news in the future. Imagine the photo section of an iPhone/Galaxy enclosed in an action camera style case. The revolution goes from there.

GoPro 13
It seems more squared than the 11/12 moreover they added some kind of heat sink. Maybe the Gopro 20 will be like that: Jokes apart, we don't know anything about its HW specs. The optional macro lens is the most interesting thing. We will se if it will be backward compatible and eventually compatible with some uw housing somehow. P.S In a few week we will have the latest DJI Osmo 5 too...

GoPro 13
It seems that some photos of the upcoming GoPro 13 leaked online. The new version should be unveiled in the next few week. Come gentlemen come. Another round, another race! https://photorumors.com/2024/08/15/gopro-hero-13-camera-leaked-online/

GoPro protune profile with red filter
Davinci Resolve is OK except one caveat: Resolve free on Windows doesn't support 10 bit h.265. So the latest Gopro files. You have to transcode the files before import. Someone was able to read them via a 1$ HEVC codex on the Windows store, someone not. Moreover in the free version you cannot export 10 bit files.

The 14mm image thread
@Adventurer Why don't you post some pictures you were talking about in the other thread? The ones you don't like because of the extreme distortion. I would say the collection of tiles and sketchboards is complete. Real examples are needed. Don't be shy and don't be ashamed. @DreiFish has posted his own. P.S. I'm thinking to merge these two threads somehow...

GoPro protune profile with red filter
I'll try to elaborate a bit. The parameters that adjust a photographic (and video) image are aperture, shutter speed and ISO. The Gopro, like all action cameras has a fixed aperture. The one on the Gopro is F2.8. If we also lock the shutter (hoping to use the 180° rule), to expose the image correctly, the camera will only be able to vary the ISO which is the least flexible parameter. In full light conditions the images would be totally overexposed (F2.8 1/50 ISO 100). In low light, at ISO 800 the games are over already. But then why did they put this option in the menus? Marketing certainly and then an option that can be useful in special situations with controlled and constant light. At that point you can intervene with ND filters. Or to 100% eliminate flickering from artificial light.

Backscatter sharp wide lens (uwl-03) doesn't cover the full gopro sensor
No differences at all as summarized in the last post. With the Backscatter version you have the additional option of using their filters.

Don't mess with the shutter speed on Gopros

Video with 8-15mm Fisheye and 140 dome
Yes, long story short, it's not a matter of fisheye or rectilinear lens but just a matter of actual FOV. The most critical camera movements are tilt and pan. Ciao
